World Economic Forum • The World Economic Forum is an independent international organization committed to improving the state of the world by engaging business, political, academic and other leaders of society to shape global, regional and industry agendas • Swiss non-profit organization • The world Economic forum is tied to no political, partisan or national interests • This organization comes together to perform a meeting with professors, politicians to discuss economic issues that are occurring around the world, and how they can change it

History • Founded by Klaus Schwab, a German-born business professor at the University of Geneva. • First named the "European Management Forum" • He founded the Forum as a non-profit organization based in Geneva, expanding its meetings to more than just an annual thing • They aimed at capturing knowledge through reports, creating communities to expand and deepen the discussion of pressing global issues. • expanded its focus from management to economic, social and international issues.
