The EPFO is the short form of Employees Provident Fund Organization which is authorized to assist the Central Board of Trustees, a statutory body formed under Employees Provident fund and miscellaneous act, 1952. The EPFO is a regulatory body that administers the functions related to the EPF scheme in India. The EPFO is a social security organization aiming to provide social security to workers or employees engaged in the organized sector. EPFO initially managed the provident fund, but was later given the authority to manage the Provident Fund Pension in 1995. When the subscriber gives a missed call on this number he/she receives an SMS containing the EPF balance in the member’s account.
