  1. Beginners Guide to owning a Dairy Farm in India When it comes to Dairy Farming in India, mostly everyone imagines a cattle-farm under the open sky. However, did you know that there are, in fact, different kinds of rules that apply to dairy farms? Just like your house may be different from that of your friend who lives in the other part of the country. Different areas have different climates and it's important to have a farm that can survive in the given climate. For example, a Dairy Farm in the chilly Himalayas will be different from one in the scorching heat of Tamil Nadu. As a farm owner, their primary priority is to choose a type of dairy farm that is of major comfort to the cattle. Centre of Excellence for Dairy Skills in India knows that the most productive cattle or herd are first and foremost the ones who are most comfortable and content. Types of Dairy Farms- 1. Pasture-based dairy farm: This is the commonly found Dairy farm in India, where the cattle are free to graze green pastures and rest when they are not being milked. These dairies provide feed and water in the barns whenever they require it. Although cows stay outside in the barn mostly, if there is any climate change, they can come in the barn.

  2. 2. Freestall dairy farms: This is one of the coolest farm types, in terms of the temperature. These are on the higher end as they provide ventilation to keep cows cooler in the hot summer months. This is necessary for good quality of milk. Cows are welcome to rest, drink or eat any time that they would like. These free stall farms also provide shelter to the cattle. Selecting a Land- An elevated land is preferred. A land that is elevated in comparison to the surroundings. • Similar to the first point, avoid land that is low. • Since fodder cultivation will be your main aim, make sure the soil on that land is fertile. • Fresh and good supply of clean water. • Make sure that a Veterinary Clinic and an Artificial Insemination Centre is nearby. • Electrical supply to the farm • Training the farmers: This is the most crucial part of the farm, to have competent farmers who are trained well. In fact, we offer Training on many different levels to help farmers acquire these skills. • These factors are very important when considering investing and opting for a Dairy Farm in India. Therefore, regardless of the farm type, the cows’ needs are always the top consideration, which is why proper training of the farmer is a priority. In addition, we want the cattle to be as happy as possible whilst getting premium care. For more information visit- https://www.cedsi.in/
