  3. Forty percent of those donations were made in December That number shouldn't seem too surprising; after all, December immediately proceeds Thanksgiving and hosts GivingTuesday, a national day of charitable giving.

  4. New research from the BBB Wise Giving Alliance shows that 46 percent of people think that looking at how donations are spent would be the most important way to verify whether a charity is trustworthy.
