  2. What is the OPAC? • List of everything in the library • Author • Title • Subject • Series • Keyword • OPAC = Online Public Access Catalog

  3. How do I use it? • Click on the OPAC icon

  4. Visual OPAC • Visual OPAC is pictures • To find books on ANIMALS, click the picture

  5. Visual OPAC • Here is part of the list of animals • To find books on BEARS click here

  6. Visual OPAC • Then you get a list of books about bears… both FICTION (stories) and NON FICTION (informational) books • Click on one of them for more information

  7. Visual OPAC • Summary of the book • Author • Title • Call number • Book is available to check out

  8. Visual OPAC • Click here to go back to the list of books about BEARS

  9. Visual OPAC • Or click here to go back to lists of animals

  10. Visual OPAC • Click the green arrow to get even more animals!

  11. Visual OPAC • Click this arrow to go back again • Or click HOME to go back to the main screen

  14. Visual OPAC • If you want to look for an author or title, click here

  15. Visual OPAC • Click and type what you are looking for in this box

  16. Visual OPAC • Look for an author by typing the LAST NAME. • Click AUTHOR • Spelling counts!

  17. Visual OPAC • Searching for BROWN gives you all authors with the last name of Brown

  18. Visual OPAC • Call number (location or book’s address) • Is this book in? • Click for more information

  19. Visual OPAC • Summary of the book • AR level • Author • Title • Call number

  20. Then what? • If it is an “E” book, then go to the PICTURE BOOK section • And look for BRO (for Brown) E Bro

  22. Visual OPAC • Or click here for a new search

  23. Visual OPAC • To look for a title, type in the first word • Click TITLE

  24. Visual OPAC • Here is the result. • What is the Call Number? • Can you check it out?

  25. Visual OPAC • If you are looking for an E book, go to the PICTURE BOOK section • If you are looking for an F book, go to the CHAPTER BOOK section • If it is a book with a NUMBER, go to the NON FICTION section • Ask for help if you need it! • Try it yourself!
