  7. Income GenerationProjects-Sri Lanka • Christians in Sri Lanka face pressure from Hindus, Buddhists and Muslims • Many lost their livelihoods in the 2004 tsunami. But Barnabas Fund helped set up many small businesses • Including carpentry, lace making, a mini-shop, candle manufacturing, coconut vending and a cafe • Barnabas Fund also supplied fishing boats, for hundreds of families www.barnabasfund.org Income Generation projects #00-356 © Barnabas Fund 2008

Income Generation Projects- Sudan • Christians in Sudan suffered great violence during 22 years of civil war • This project trains Christian women from refugee camps in sewing and tailoring • They can make clothes for their families and also earn an income • Training lasts several months • At the end each woman is given a sewing machine www.barnabasfund.org Income Generation projects #00-356 © Barnabas Fund 2008

Income Generation Projects- Summary • These Christians can only be assisted because of the prayers and generous support of Christian brothers and sisters elsewhere in the world • A gift of £15 paid for 31 fruit trees in Iraq • A gift of £30 paid for training in tailoring for a Christian girl in Pakistan • A gift of £70 paid for a sewing machine in Sudan • A gift of £330 paid for a bee-keeping project in Central Asia www.barnabasfund.org Income Generation projects #00-356 © Barnabas Fund 2008
