  7. Turn and Talk Name some of the ways Pearl and Wagner communicated with each other in the story. Think-Pair-Share Friends keep in touch with each other. What are some other ways Pearl and Wagner could communicate when they are not in school?

  14. Draw Conclusions • To draw conclusions I use what I know about real life and what I have read to figure out more about the characters and what happens in the story.

  15. Example: When I read Pearl and Wagner: Two Good Friends I wondered why doesn’t Wagner make anything for the Science Fair on his own. I was able to draw the conclusion that he was so busy thinking of ideas that he never got around to doing anything.

  16. Let’s Try Some Together Why do you think Pearl told Ms. Star that Wagner made the robot with her? (Think-Pair-Share) Why do you think Wagner got inside the robot before the judge returned? (Turn and Talk)

  17. When you read any story you should think about what you know and what you read to draw conclusions. • Listen as I read The Best Message • I will stop and have you draw conclusions along the way
