  1. 1 20 Fireworks Usage Safety Tips In this modern era, fireworks represent happiness, celebrations and joy. However, the chemicals or gunpowder used in it can cause severe burns and injuries if precautionary measures are not taken. Safety Measurements and Precautionary Measures You can enjoy fireworks safely by following a few simple safety tips: 1.Always assure that fireworks are legal in your area. 2.The fireworks that are packed in brown paper are only for professionals so avoid them if you are unaware of how to deal with them. 3.Before purchasing fireworks, read all the descriptions in labels and be aware of any particular effects such as launched sparks, colour changes, sirens, or spinning, so you should know what to expect. 4.Make sure that you have a clear and open place for firework activities, and that should be away from any electricity or gas supply source or any combustible material. 5.Before lighting the fireworks, be sure that the area has adequate light to see the fuse clearly, and if required you can use your flashlight. 6.Always have adult supervision during firework activities especially with sparklers, rockets and missile fireworks. 7.Don’t drink alcohol while doing firework activities as well as don’t wear loose clothing. 8.Use fireworks outdoors and have a fire extinguisher, bucket of water or a hose nearby in case of any accidents. 9.After lighting the firework, you should back up to a safe distance immediately especially in the case of rockets and missile fireworks, make sure your audience is at a minimum distance of 150 feet. 10.While lighting sparklers that can reach temperature 1800ºF (982ºC), hot enough to melt gold, make sure to keep them away from the hair, face or clothes. 11.You should wear safety glasses in case of lighting missile fireworks and make sure that you set up your missile on a hard, flat, level surface. 12.During missile fireworks, try to track a trajectory of the flight path of the missile to make sure that it will come down and not ends in an accident. 13.It would help if you never tried to re-light the missile firework that fails to light in the first time. This kind of missile firework should be disposed of safely after soaking it in the water bucket. 14.You should use long lighter or long-handled matchbox to keep as far as possible from the fuse.

  2. 2 15.Avoid any altering or combining fireworks like trimming fuses or lighting them together to make a huge display. 16.Never let your kids aim the fireworks towards people, buildings or windows for fun as it might result in a serious mishap. 17.Before lighting your firework, always place them on the flat ground to avoid any accidental dropping or burns. 18.It would help if you keep your pets inside your houses or away from the lighting area as loud noises or pungent smells can frighten animals into impulsive behaviour. 19.Never try to ignite fireworks in a container such as buckets, cans and bottles. 20.Avoid lighting fireworks in stormy condition as it might change the flight path and may move to charge unexpectedly.
