  2. What is the halFILE Image Viewer? • Modular Program (halViewer.dll) • Designed to be the primary image display for all halFILE programs • Designed around Imaging for Windows controls

  3. The Imaging what? • Imaging for Windows was a Built-in component to Win9x/Me/NT/2000 • XP and later, it is an additional software purchase • Versions: • Imaging 2.6 Standard/Professional • Imaging 2.7 (standard – no OCR included) • Imaging 2.8 (professional – OCR included)

  4. What happened to Kofax? • Still recommended for scanning • Kofax and Adrenaline are still supported • Used as an alternative viewer

  5. Working with halFILE Image Files How are images stored in halFILE? • Cartridges vs. Baskets • Single-page TIFF • File name is DDDDDDDD.PPP • 8-character halFILE Document Number (DDDDDDDD) • 3-digit page, zero-filled (PPP) • A0345612.001, A0345612.002, … A0345612.999

  6. How do I… • Reorder/Modify pages on documents? • Add pages from the scanner to a document? • Test existing images to make sure they can be viewed?

  7. Move Utility Manager – Tools – Move Images • Change the order of pages on a document in a basket • MOVE • APPEND • REPLACE • DELETE • REVERT • SAVE

  8. Image Utility • Manager – Tools – Image Utility • Edit – Append – Pages from Scanner • Much the same as Move Images • Has additional feature of adding pages directly from the scanner to Insert or Append • Use this utility to scan documents, otherwise, use the Move Utility

  9. Adding Pages to an archived document Try to avoid (changes permanent archive) • If it is unavoidable, use Edit - Append - Pages from Scanner • Be sure to Re-Import! • Document – entire document (if you select Keep Doc Number, data will stay) • Document and Data – create new document, may copy existing data
