  1. Status of Readout Boards and Gas Monitor Craig Woody BNL HBD Working Group Meeting August 1, 2006

  2. Status of Readout Boards • 10 LHS and 10 RHS boards are nearly complete. Should have remaining 6 LHS and 6 RHS from stuffing house at BNL today • Procedure • Receive boards at BNL. Check power planes and mount through hole • components (~ 30 min/board) • Check that all channels with test pulse are within acceptable output range • Have found a few bad channels doing this, which are repaired before gluing • Glue on Rohacell backing (4 boards/day) • Do final testing after gluing. Pulse each channel and record each preamp • output and noise level in data base(~ 1 hour/board) • Cross talk • There is no evidence for any cross talk when pulsing only one group at a time. There are some small effects of cross talk (~2-5%) when pulsingall channels simultaneously (partly due to test box) C.Woody, HBD Working Group Meeting, 8/1/06

  3. Status • 5/16 (LHS), 4/16 (RHS) • completely glued and tested, • ready for installation • 4/16 (LHS), 5/16 (RHS) • glued and ready for final testing • 1/16 (LHS), 1/16 (RHS) • had problems after mounting final • components (shorted power plane, • no power to few preamps), but have • now been fixed • 6/16 (LHS), 6/16 (RHS) • due to arrive BNL today Will take two boards (one LHS and one RHS) to Stony Brook today for test installation on HBD East. Will try new thermal wire stripping tool. Will begin installation on HBD West next week. C.Woody, HBD Working Group Meeting, 8/1/06

  4. Gas Transmission Monitor • New Mini-turbo arrived • Holes drilled in table for • vacuum connections • (required to be done in • BNLCentral Shops) • Essentially all components • now in hand • Working on Labview program • to control spectrometer grating, • translational mirror and current switch • Should be ready in a few weeks Mini turbo will be mounted underneath table C.Woody, HBD Working Group Meeting, 8/1/06
