Objectives for Week #5 After the fifth week, each campaign manager will be able to: • Use Miradi to rank andprioritize threats to a givenconservation target. • Develop managementstrategies to reduce barriersand assess feasibility andimpact of strategies usingthe BRAVO tool. • Describe the role of theBarrier Removal partner in behavior change. Brainstorming management strategies forthe mini-campaign

  7. Rare introduced the BRAVO as a new tool in the Pride process to provide quick, high level viability assessments of potential solutions to behavior change barriers. Its objective is to assess the business model, feasibility, partnerships, and impact of a proposed barrier removal strategy by providing data (who, what, when and how). BRAVO: Barrier Removal Assessment and Viability Overview A tool for assessing the feasibility and impact potential of Rare project plans Technical Cultural/Political Impact & Metrics Economics • Assessment of technology availability, training required, and the effectiveness of organizational partners involved with the Barrier Removal Solution • Assessment of Barrier Removal Solution drivers and barriers that arise from cultural norms and political landscape • Assessment of costs, funding/revenue sources and potential income substitution factors related to the specific Barrier Removal Solution • Assessment of the overall impact of the Barrier Removal Solution and the viability of current metrics to measure that impact

Behavior Mapping • A behavior map is a visual map that depicts how and why people make decisions (which lead to the prioritized threat(s)) • Identifies whereinfluencers play • Highlights where tointervene to affectbehavior change –the ‘leverage point’ • What specificbehaviors to changeto reduce the threat
