  2. PHYSICAL DISABILITIES:

  3. NEUROMOTOR IMPAIRMENTS Conditions caused by damage to the brain and/or spinal cord. Limits movement and muscular control. Examples: • Seizure Disorders • Cerebral Palsy • Spinal Cord Disorders • Muscular Dystrophy • Polio • Multiple Sclerosis

  4. MUSCULAR/SKELETAL CONDITIONS Examples: • Juvenile Arthritis • Limb Deficiencies • Skeletal Disorders An impairment that affects the limbs or muscles. Results in trouble moving.

CHRONIC ILLNESSES Examples: • Asthma • Diabetes • Cystic Fibrosis • Congenital Heart Disease • Tuberculosis • Childhood Cancer • Blood Disorders Children with an illness lasting years or a lifetime. Most children with a chronic illness do not need special education, but need special accommodations.

  7. INFECTIOUS DISEASES The child was born with or acquired a transmittable disease that there is no cure for. Children with these diseases usually only need accommodations, but a lot of them are given education at home. Examples: • Hepatitis B • HIV/AIDS • STORCH infections
