  1. Wisconsin Incident Tracking System Technical Assistance: Resetting your computer so WITS fits your screen

  2. Does WITS fit your monitor? • You only need this information if the WITS screens are TOO WIDE to fit onto your computer monitor. If they are, you will always be scrolling right and left to get to the edges of the screen. • If WITS fits, stop here! You don’t need to change a thing. • If WITS doesn’t fit, follow the instructions on these slides to fix the fit.

  3. Goal for your display settings • Screen resolution – 1024 x 768 • Dots Per Inch – “Large Size” (120 DPI) • Base Fonts - “Large Fonts”

  4. Changing your computer’s display settings Then, click here to open the Control Panel Click Start button

  5. Opening “Display” window Click on display to set resolution Click on display to set resolution Click on display to set resolution Double-clickon “Display”

  6. Re-setting Resolution First, click “Settings” tab Next, move slider-bar to adjust resolution to 1024 by 768 pixels

  7. Getting to “Dots Per Inch” Then, click the “Advanced” button to set Dots Per Inch

  8. Resetting Dots Per Inch (DPI) Change DPI setting to “Large Size” (120 DPI)

  9. How does everything look now? • At this point, close the Display settings window and see how your desktop and your WITS screens look. If nothing has changed, try rebooting. • If you find that everything, including desktop icons and text, is now very, very tiny, you may also need to reset your base font size. If so, go back to the Display window, and...

  10. Resetting base font size Click the “Appearance” tab Set to “Large Fonts”

  11. That should do it! • If you continue to have problems, check in with your IT staff. There may be something about your personal computer or your agency’s setup that does not fit with these instructions.
