  1. 5 Reasons Why should you Upgrade from Dynamics NAV to Business Central 14 now

  2. There has been a rush to switch to Business Central 14 (BC 14) over the past year, partially due to Microsoft's N-2 policy, which permits licenses obtaining for two versions ahead of the current update. With BC 2020 approaching in the fall of 2020, BC 14 will no longer be accessible to users. However, Microsoft has recently deviated from this strategy by revealing that MS Dynamics NAV ERP customers on maintenance can "downgrade" until the fall release of 2021 provisionally scheduled for October 2021. It implies that BC 14 licenses would be open to consumers apart from switching to the new Business Central edition.  • But again, the argument remains. If you're going to go through the update phase, why wouldn't you go with the new edition of BC2020? Why "downgrade" instead of that? There are five excellent explanations for this.

  3. Current On Maintenance • If you've been charged your yearly maintenance costs but don't have updates as part of your IT policy, why not? You've been paying for all these features upgrades, so you may as well take advantage of them. You may also have the ability to delete specific customizations (less maintenance) and/or add-ons. • Extended Support For BC 14 • Microsoft's policy mentions that BC14 would be a supported version until 2023, which is far longer than its usual N-2 roadmap, which notes that it would only support the latest version and the last two published versions. With a new update cycle every six months, you're looking at an 18-month window of support for Microsoft's previous updates. This doesn't imply that your partner won't endorse older versions; it's just Microsoft won't support them.

  4. Three Named Users For Single Concurrent • It's a quick one, but still significant. Although you're going to have to switch from concurrent users to named users, Microsoft is providing three named for each concurrent user licensed in MS Dynamics NAV ERP. • Customizations! • Any business that has updated to an extensively changed MS Dynamics NAV ERP framework knows that all of these customizations will add up to big bucks just to switch from one version to another. In our experience, most of the Navision / Dynamics NAV installations are highly customizable, so this affects almost all.  • The advantage of shifting to BC 14 is that you can slowly move your customizations to AL over time and/or replace them with key functionality/add-ons. It grants you the privilege of time, thus enabling you to disperse the cost of getting the customs out of the simple code.

  5. A Stress-Free Way To Move To Dynamics 365 business central  • The main advantage of moving to BC 14 is that you have a nice "parking" spot. You can switch to a Microsoft-supported version of dynamics 365 business centraland function alongside decoupling your improvements from the basic code and converting them to AL extensions while waiting for ISV data and modifications update toolkits and giving your end-users access to the Modern Client. Again, this relieves the burden of making the transitions that will eventually have to be made so that you can prepare for and accomplish them at your own sweet pace.
