Why Detroit? • Largest urban redevelopment boom in the country with over $20 billion spent • Recently named by American Stylereaders as one of the top 25 arts destinations in the nation • City is capable of handling large crowds as proven by other events who have chosen to host their event in Detroit including: • 2004 – 35th Ryder Cup Matches • 2005 – Major League Baseball’s All Star Game • 2006 – Super Bowl XL • 2008 – PGA Championship Golf Tournament, IEEE-EMC Society, Environmental Protection Agency, Council of Engineering & Scientific Society Executives (CESSE) • 2009 – NCAA Men’s Final Four Basketball Championship • 2010 - American Mensa Ltd., Air Carriers Purchasing Conference ACMIS Detroit 2011

  8. Why Detroit? Detroit People Mover (DPM) fully automated light rail system that operates on an elevated single track loop in Detroit's central business district. Round trip on the system is approximately 15 minutes and headway ranges from 3 to 4 minutes. Average dwell at each station is 20 seconds. All vehicles and stations are handicapped accessible. Budget Information • Marriott meeting room fees:  • It is assumed that future negotiations with the hotel, will result in zero fees relating to meeting rooms and/or hotel related social event room(s) fees. • Conference registration fees:  • Registration fees will remain within past traditional AMCIS fee ranges, and will be determined in conjunction with AMCIS Finance Director.
