  2. Over the past few years, Drunk driving deaths decreased in the United States by using Ignition interlock devices.

  3. What is Ignition Interlock system? • An ignition interlock device requires a driver to give a breath test before starting the car. • Some people are still unaware of this alcohol detection system, and some just have not faced it as not all the states have enforced the policy.

  4. How does it work? • This ignition interlock device is directly connected to an ignition system of the car or vehicle. • Before starting the car, driver has to submit a breath test through a tube joined to dashboard monitor.

  5. There are limits set in the cars to detect breath sample of driver. • It requires a driver to provide an alcohol-free breath test in order to start the car.

  6. BAC - Blood Alcohol Concentration • Blood Alcohol Concentration detects the level of alcohol during the breath test. • BAC helps to measure the units of mass of alcohol per volume of blood.

  7. BAC level must be less than 0.02. but if it goes higher than the set level of BAC the car would not start. • This typically happens when men consume 5 or more drinks, and when women consume 4 or more drinks.

  8. The technology is a step ahead to recognize and create a pattern of your breath. • The ignition interlock device keeps all the records of the attempts of breath samples.
