  2. Entering Exodus

  3. Open Your Bibles to the “Book” of Exodus

  4. This will be our first week in the “Book” of Exodus, but before we begin, let’s briefly reflect on what we have observed in the 3 1/2 months we’ve spent in Genesis.

  5. Genesis overview #1 • God opens His word by revealing His eternal existence, ever present nature & desire to be known by His creation. • “Hear, O Israel, the LORD our God is one LORD.”= • “Hear O Israel, the YHWH our Gods is a unified YHWH.” • Matthew 28:19;“Go, therefore, and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit,”

  6. Genesis overview #2 • God existed before everything, He created everything, and has a plan for everything. • Genesis 1:1 “In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.”= • Bereshith bara Elohim [Nn] shamayim erets.

  7. Day 1 God creates space. Day 2 God creates sky/mist Day 3 God creates water and land Day 4 God creates the sun, moon, & stars Day 5 God creates birds & fish Day 6 God creates animals and people God fills the environment He created.

  8. Signs in the heavens. • The first sign of the ancient zodiac is Virgo, the Virgin. And the last sign is Leo the Lion. • The zodiac tells the story of the coming Messiah, from His birth, death, and triumphal resurrection as the Lion of Juda. • God wants us to know Him and His plan for salvation for us, that He implanted it into the stars. Yet some refuse to see.

  9. Understanding the enemy. The enemy uses those around us that we least expect. 2.The enemy is watching & listening. The enemy comes when we are weak. Satan purposely mis-quotes God. The enemy tempts us by questioning sin. Satan Denies there is any danger in the sin. The enemy suggests there is good in sin.(Rationalization) Genesis overview #3

  10. Sin= separation from God • English= Genesis 2:17 but do not eat from the tree of knowing good and evil; for the day you eat from it you will certainly die. • Hebrew= Genesis 2:17 but do not eat from the tree of knowing good and evil; for the day you eat from it you will certainly die dying. • This curse speaks of 2 deaths. One spiritual and one physical.

  11. God promises a Redeemer • Man tries to fix the sin problem by his own work. This will never work. • God attempts reconciliation first. (Gen. 3:8-10) • God promises a seed that will Redeem. • Satan tries to stop the seed of Eve by tempting Cain into killing Abel. But Seth becomes the seed line.

  12. The Redeemer will take the curse upon Himself. • “sorrow” (“toil” literally means sorrow) • “thorns”“sweat”_________________Jesus was the man of “sorrows” for us.He “sweat” blood for us.And Jesus carried a crown of “thorns” on His for us.

  13. Jesus made a way so we wouldn’t have to die dying. We can live dying. Living in the spirit forever, and then shedding this body and receiving one that lives forever as our spiritual body.

  14. Genesis overview #4 • Trust…this is the relationship that existed before man ate of the tree of knowledge of good and evil.Adam & Eve had no need for salvation, because there is nothing to be saved from. • Satan and his companion angels had already fallen. Hell was created for them. Man was unaware of anything but a harmonious relationship built on trust with God. This is the perfect life.

  15. God pays the price for redemption with blood. God provides a covering for them and us. The Covering is available based on His plan for salvation. • 1.) The offer from God. • 2.) Man’s realized need (repentance; i.e. change of mind/heart). • 3.) Putting on Christ as your redeemer. (Trust, believe)

  16. The offer of salvation is for everyone. • God knew Cain would reject Him, God’s love for him still reached out. God loved him so much that He gave him a choice, the same offer He gave to Adam & Eve and us. • “For God so loved the world (people), that He gave His only begotten son, that whosoever believes in Him (Jesus) will have everlasting life.”

  17. Eternal security!! • Genesis 6:3 “And the LORD said, My spirit shall not always strive withman (Adam), for that he also is flesh: yet his days shall be an hundred and twenty years.” • Even though Adam had become evil and corrupt, God never cast Adam out to “Nod”. God never put a “mark” on him. God is tired of Adam’s sin and cuts short Adam’s life. how much longer would he of lived? We don’t know.

  18. Genesis overview #5 • Genesis 6:4 There were giants in the earth in those days; and also after that, when the sons of God came in unto the daughters of men, and they bare children to them, the same became mighty men which were of old, men (enosh) of renown. • The sole purpose of the flood was to eliminate these Enosh = “men of renown”= deprived fallen, mutant giants

  19. Satan infiltrates man after the flood too. • Genesis 6:4 There were giants on the earth in those days, and later, too, when the sons of God used to cohabit with the daughters of men, who bore them children, those mighty men of old who made a name. • The Canaanite people are named with the Giants/Nephilim; i.e. Kenites, Hittites, Jebusites, Anakin, Anak(where the name nephilim derived). Rephaim(these came Goliath & his brothers, & those with 6 fingers & toes)

  20. Satan attacks • The 10 of 12 spies sent into Canaan were discouraged because of Giants. They in turn discouraged the millions of Israelites not to enter the Promised Land • Satan is forever trying to destroy the “seed” of the woman/Eve.The “seed” is the redeemer and the redeemed. We are the redeemed!

  21. LDS/Mormons Free Masons Islam Roman Catholic Eastern Orthodox Jehovah” Witnesses Hinduism Ect. News Media Public Education Politics Compliancy in the Body of Christ Ect. Today’s attacks on the redeemed

  22. Genesis overview #6 • Nimrod founded Babel along with many great cities. It is easy to see Satan’s attempt to raise up a human universal ruler of men. Subsequent attempts were Nebuchadnezzar, Alexander, Napoleon, Hitler, ect. • Nimrod is from the Hebrew word “Marad”=“to rebel” Nimrod is 1st person plural As in “We will rebel” or “Come let us rebel.”

  23. Satan continues his work. • Satan takes men and woman and deceives them with power and followers. Pride is at work in the heart of those Satan uses. NOT SO WITH GOD! • The Devil will do what ever he can to convince you, that you can do it on your own.

  24. God has a plan. • The men and women God calls and uses, first under a period of testing. So they realize they can’t do it on their own. • “If not for the storms, I wouldn’t know you were the shelter.”

  25. Genesis overview #7 • God tests Abraham. • God sends Abraham into a land filled with Satan’s seed of giants. • Famine enters the land of Canaan. • Abraham fears & fails; He flees to Egypt. • Abraham fails again and lies about Sara. • God intervenes and preserves the “Seed”.

  26. Abraham is given another chance. • Abraham turns back to God. • Abraham returns to Canaan. • Abraham separates from Lot. • Abraham is promised a great seed and a Greater Seed.

  27. Genesis overview #8 • Abram’s 4 “Looks”. • 1 Land • 2 Heavens. • 3 God as a man. • 4 God’s Substitute.

  28. 4 “Looks”; What is God revealing to us in His Word? • Look 1) God gives us the Earth, to enjoy. By following Him [God] we will be saved/blessed in this life. • Look 2) If we turn toward God He [God] will show us His plan for eternal life. • Look 3) God revealed Himself to us in the form of a man. • Look 4) God provides a substitute to redeem us form our sins. Because of His death we can live!

  29. Justification #1 • The word Justified means just-if-ied never sinned. Abraham received this the moment he trusted/believed in God’s promise of the Messiah. God’s Word clearly shows us that this justification comes only through the grace of God through faith. Faith = trust, which = believe, which = repentance. • We are justified! What security, knowing that our eternal lives aren’t dependent on our own works.

  30. Justification #2 • The 2nd justification has to do with this temporary life between us and our daily relationship with God and man. Abraham was known as God’s friend (2 Ch 20:7, Is 41:8 & Jas 2:23). We too, as believers, are called friends of Christ. • 2nd Justification comes through our works! Jesus said; KJV John 15:14 Ye are my friends, if ye do whatsoever I command you.

  31. KJV James 2:21 Was not Abraham our father justified by works, when he had offered Isaac his son upon the altar? • The 1st justification happened to Abraham the moment he first believed. • The 2nd justification happened when Abraham put his faith in action.

  32. Genesis overview #9 • God again proves Salvation is not a work. • KJV Genesis 15:12 “And when the sun was going down, a deep sleep fell upon Abram;…” • God made Abram fall into a deep sleep! God did this so Abram would have no part in any work of man in this covenant of grace. • Grace is the only UNCONDITIONAL covenant, where God is the only contracting party.

  33. A covenant is a promise, or better put a contract. Accountability comes through a mediator. In the case of God’s unconditional GRACE covenant based on Abram’s faith, God is the only contracting party. The mediator between Himself and Himself. • Eph. 2:8 “For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: 9 Not of works, lest any man should boast.”

  34. Genesis overview #9 • God doesn’t need our money. • God needs our heart. • It’s our change of mind/heart that brings us to salvation. (1st justification) • It’s our heart that proves our true devotion toward God and man. (2nd justification) • Our motive for giving should be vertical out of thanksgiving for God. • A vertical love attitude then causes a horizontal love response to man.

  35. Genesis overview #10 • God has a plan for the redemption of man and He wants us to be a willing party in it. (Judah) • When we rebel against God, we suffer the consequences. (Judah’s children die off) • God accomplishes His plan despite ourselves. (Tamar’s deception, then offspring becomes the “Seed” line.)

  36. Genesis overview #11 • God reveals His plan for the coming Savior through others in history as “types and shadows”. • Joseph • Moses, ect. • Within these stories we understand God’s love nature.

  37. Genesis overview #12 • God wants every one to be drawn to Him. • The one God, in a plural nature wants to reveal Himself through every way possible. • He reveals Himself as the Son in the titles He gives Himself.

  38. 6 titles for the Redeemer • Seed = The One coming who has not been born. • Sceptre = The ruler (Septuagint & Targum) • Shiloh = The peaceful one. (Strong’s) To whom it belongs. (NIV) • Shepard = To rule; by extension to associate with (as a friend). • Stone = Through the meaning to build (foundation). • Star = Prince.

  39. Each title, when explored, reveals an entire glorious insight into God’s desire to have us know Him and be saved! • The Star is one of these tithes. • The word Zodiac itself means a way. It denotes a way, or step, i.e. a path. • The zodiac is the story of the “Star”…The Redeemer. • God placed in the heavens His plan for the redemption of all willing mankind.

  40. Satan, again, distorts & deceives. • Zodiac is now known as “your” horoscope. • “It’s all about you”, instead of God. • A star is a title of an important person. • Following man’s stars is the trap the trapper wants us to become caught up in.

  41. The “Book” of Genesis could be summed up in 2 words. And 2 concepts.God…manlife…death

  42. We see this represented in the opening verse and in the closing verse. Take a look at Gen. 1:1 and then at Gen. 50:26

  43. KJV-R (Webster) Genesis 1:1 In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.

  44. KJV-R (Webster) Genesis 50:26 So Joseph died, being an hundred and ten years old: and they embalmed him, and he was put in a coffin in Egypt.

  45. Thus the “Book” of Genesis begins with God and ends with man. It begins with the creation of the Heavens above, and ends with a man in a coffin in Egypt.

  46. Deuteronomy 30:19 I call heaven and earth to record this day against you, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing: therefore choose life, that both thou and thy seed may live:

  47. We know God as the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End (Rev. 1:8). In Hebrew God is the Aleph and the Thav. God makes this known to us in the very first verse of Genesis almost invisibly.

  48. 2 examples of this can only be seen in the Hebrew language.

  49. Genesis 1:1 In the beginning God (Aleph Thav) created the heaven and the earth. The Aleph Thav inserted above does actually appear in the Hebrew. It is left out of the English translations because it doesn’t spell anything.

  50. Zechariah 12:10 And I will pour upon the house of David, and upon the inhabitants of Jerusalem, the spirit of grace and of supplications: and they shall look upon me (Aleph Thav) whom they have pierced, and they shall mourn for him, as one mourneth for his only son, and shall be in bitterness for him, as one that is in bitterness for his firstborn.
