  2. Healthcare in $787 Billion Federal Stimulus Package • Assist states with Medicaid: 90 billion • Subsidize unemployed healthcare under COBRA program: 25 billion • Modernize HIT: 21 billion • Construction of NIH facilities and research: 10 billion • Prevention/wellness programs: 1 billion

  3. Task Force 3: Health Information Technology Examine HIT infrastructure goals and efforts for the State in the context of PM, especially archiving and sharing of information and materials for biomarker validation

  4. Candidate Topic Areas • Examine and recommend improvements to data storage and management infrastructure • Recommend policies and means of archiving and sharing information and materials • Currently no clear guidelines for sharing that protect patient’s privacy and allow researchers access to vast amounts of information to • validate biomarkers and supporting technologies • improve health and medical care • Inter-institutional mechanisms need to be created, taking into account legal and policy issues

  5. Candidate Topic Areas • Assess impact of GINA and of non-genetic biomarker-based information on archiving and sharing of information and materials

  6. Possible Outcomes • Recommendations to State and Privacy and Security Advisory Board for validating and sharing information, tools and materials of PM • Scoping of potential prospective pilot for archiving and inter-institutional sharing of information and materials of PM
