What is Jisc • We are the UK's expert on digital technologies for education and research • We are a registered charity and champion the use of digital technologies in UK education and research • Offering includes: • Janet network – 19 million users and lightening quick, along with associated network service • Access to scholarly resources – £75.5 million savings per year • Advice and guidance on learning, teaching, etc., as well as support for research and the back office • Leadership and the bringing of people together

Title of presentation 00/00/2013 Jisc and Green IT • 4 year long initiative to help universities and colleges: • Reduce the environmental impacts of their ICT • Use ICT and related technologies to drive improvements in environmental performance across the campus The programme is now drawing to a close in a formal sense, but Jisc will be taking this work forward as part of the wider efficiencies agenda. • What Jisc is trying to do

Efficient Buildings - 29/01/2014 The university estate and its environmental footprint • It’s all about “the other 98%” • That is – the emissions from everything else that a university or college does, and where there is scope for technology to make a difference • Heat & Light project at Leeds Met looked at the feasibility of joining things up from an infrastructure point of view and using the understanding gained to plan thing differently • Carbon Buzz “Get real about building energy use!”
