Electric Power Systems for Subsea Oil and Gas Processing

This presentation discusses the objectives and preliminary results of the KMB Power Systems project, which aims to establish a national competence centre for designing, analyzing, and operating electric power supply systems for subsea control, processing, and transportation of oil and gas. The project focuses on fundamental issues such as system operation, component stress, and interaction. The goal is to model and simulate the complete subsea electric power system and improve system components through analysis, verification, and safe operation. Preliminary results include transformer and power umbilical modeling, as well as the development of a matrix fitting toolbox for multi-port modeling. Future activities involve refining simulation models and methodology for transformers and power umbilicals.
