  2. Unit Aim • This unit aims to develop learners’ knowledge and understanding of how to prepare for job interviews and develop appropriate interview behaviours. This unit is 30 Guided Learning Hours

  3. Unit Description Interviewing is a two way process to discover whether a candidate for a job and the potential employer/school/college/university are a good fit. The potential employer will be trying to assess the candidate’s knowledge and skills and whether or not his/her personality and work style meet their expectations of the ideal candidate. They may also be interviewing from a short-list where the candidate is competing with others who may be equally qualified and/or experienced in which case it is the personal qualities that stand out.

  4. Unit Description Continued • There is an assumed knowledge base in terms of understanding the purpose of interviews and how to do appropriate research before an interview as well as understanding the different types of interview and building a case. This unit will focus on developing strong and positive, proactive interview behaviours. • Specifically, the learner will understand the role of the interview in the whole job search process as opposed to an isolated activity as well as to how to conduct effective research before the interview itself. The learner will develop articulate and confident presentation skills focusing on appearance, body language, voice projection and attitude.

Unit Description Continued • In the first part of the unit, learners consider the interview process and the skills and behaviours required. • Learners prepare for an interview in the second part of the unit by conducting a self- analysis of the skills and behaviours required and research. • In the third part of the unit, learners participate in job interview scenarios and reflect on the behaviour and skills used and consider ways to develop their interview skills.
