  2. HOW IT ALL WORKS (home) D • Geothermal heat systems work by transferring heat between the constant temperature of the earth and a home. Internal ground temperatures remain in about a 50-degree range and the water then picks up heat from the ground and moves it into the home. During the summer, the water takes the heat from the home and transfers it back into the ground and is changed to your needs.

  4. HOW IT ALL WORKS (power plant) R • Water gets injected underneath earths surface. That water gets heated by magma and then brought up by a well. • Water turns into steam and spins the turbine activating the generator. • (NOT NECESSARY TO WRITE WHAT IS TYPED BELOW!!!!) • The leftover steam goes to a condenser which is then put back into water form and injected back into the earth (reservoir)

  6. THE PROS A • No harmful gas emissions. Just steam • Once it is constructed it has very little maintenance • The power plants don’t have to be huge for it to work • No consumption of fossil fuels Advantages

  7. THE CONS A • The area in which the plant is HAS to have rocks easy to drill through • If the area is drilled wrong harmful gasses may escape from the ground • It is possible to run out of steam as well. Disadvantages

  8. GEOTHERMAL POTENTIAL T • Most of the geothermal activity in the world occurs in an area called the Ring of Fire. • Ring of Fire- a zone of frequent earthquakes and volcanic eruptions that encircles the basin of the Pacific Ocean.

  10. The Most Electricity T • The united states uses the most geothermal energy in the world followed by the Philippines. • Iceland produces the most geothermal energy by capita followed by Norway and Canada.
