  1. BRUT RICE Brut Rice is one of the most typical Majorcan recipies. It is a type of rice with broth and spices. In its origins this Majorcan recipe was cooked specially with products from the vegetable garden , with meat, sobrassada or butifarró. NUTRITIONAL VALUE: Its energetic value is high due to the carbohydrates of the rice and the fat, especially from the meat. The contribution of protein and minerals stands out, like the iron coming from the meat and the liver. It must be consumed occasionally, and be avoided in case of obesity, diabetes and cardiovascular problems.

  2. INGREDIENTS • Meat in chunks (chicken, rabbit ...) • Vegetables (peas, beans, red pepper, mushrooms ...) • Onion • Two spoonfuls of raw and crushed tomato • Rice (a cup per person) • Paprika • Water PREPARATION • It is simple to prepare as the ingredients are just meat, vegetables and a handful of rice: • 1.  Fry a little meat. • 2.  Remove it from the fire and fry the onion together with the crushed tomato. • 3.  Add this to the meat and vegetables.4.  Add water and paprika.5.  Cook until the meat and the vegetables are done. 6.  Add the rice. 7.  Leave it to cook.Must be served with plenty of broth.

  3. COCARROI • The ‘cocarroi’ is a typical Majorcan food which consists of a stuffed baked flour paste. It is typical to eat it in Easter holidays. According to what they contain, there are two types of cocarroi: • Vegetable ‘cocarrois’ (filled with chard, raisins and pine nuts). • Onion ‘cocarrois’ (the stuffing is sliced onion, a little tomato and some meat, usually sobrassada). • It has carbohydrates from the pastry, proteins from the meat and vitmains from vegetables.
