  2. Dimensions Internal efficacy • one's confidence in their abilities to understand and influence political events • For e.g. voting External efficacy • One’s believe that how government is going to respond • For e.g. protest

  3. Internal efficacy and media • Internal efficacy is one's confidence in their abilities to understand and influence political events • media effects the beliefs about government • Media can be used both positively and negatively • Higher the exposure to media higher will be internal efficacy

Examples of internal efficacy and media Elections campaign • Positive approach • Awareness about right to vote • People ( voters) as change agents Current sit-ins • Mistrust on government • But higher internal efficacy • People believe that they can influence or change political scenarios • Media as both positive and negative tool

  5. Examples of internal efficacy and media SWAT VALLEY AND MEDIA: • No media availability except radio • Radio influenced by local Government • Less internal efficacy in people • Media as a propaganda tool • Girls education and polio fear

  6. External Efficacy • The belief that the political system will respond to citizens. This belief has declined in recent years because of public sentiment that the government has become too big to be responsive

  9. Media and political efficacy • Media take part in increasing efficacy • People learn from media • Both efficacies are directly correlated with all types of media use • Media can be used by government to create certain efficacy • TV , internet and print media are the most effective
