  2. HAP International (www.hapinternational.org) is a Geneva based organization established in 2003. It is a partnership of 87 agencies Objectives of the organization Promote greater accountability Support members through capacity building Set principles of accountability Monitor and certify compliances of members through certification Handle complaints against members

HAP Members in Bangladesh IINGOs: CARE, Christian Aid, Tearfund, Dun Church Aid, Action Aid, World Vision, Plan International, Concern Worldwide, Save the Children, Oxfam, Muslim Aid, Islamic Relief World Wide, CAFOD/CARITAS,Plan International etc. are the members National NGOs: Dwip Unnyan Sangstha, CODEC, Rupantar, STAR and COAST Trust

HAP Standard • Some of the main terms and definitions are used in the Standard • Organizations applying the HAP Standard make a commitment to compliance with • The HAP Standard helps organizations that assist or act on behalf of people affected by or prone to disasters, conflict, poverty or other crises • The HAP Standard can apply to all types of local, national and international organizations.

Major differences between HAP Standard 2007 and HAP Standard 2010 • The 2010 edition incorporates all of the contents in the 2007 edition in 2010. • In 2010 edition The ISO/IEC Directives Part 2 andmore user-friendly language have been used. • The HAP Principles of Accountability are included in the Annex of the 2010 edition.

Major differences between HAP Standard 2007 and HAP Standard 2010 • The qualifying norms for certification outlined in the 2007 edition are included in a separate section in 2010. • The section on Working with humanitarian partners in the 2007 edition is included under Purpose and scope (section 2.2.2) in the 2010 edition.

Major differences between HAP Standard 2007 and HAP Standard 2010 • The sections on Putting Principles into Practice and Declaration of additional interests in the 2007 edition are under General requirements (section 5.1) in the 2010 edition. • In 2007 edition was for application in humanitarian relief but in 2010 edition these can be used for other aspects of the organization.

  8. Major differences between HAP Standard 2007 and HAP Standard 2010 • In 2010 edition a separate section for organizations working with partners has been included under each benchmark. • Five specific requirements in the 2010 edition include content that was not already part of the 2007 edition

COAST Certification • HAP membership in 2007 • Base line analysis in 2008 • Reshuffling of management and policies in view of base line analysis during 2009 to 2010. • Certification Audit by 2011 and The audit team placed the report to HAP Certification and Accreditation Review Board (CARB). • After review, the board approved and COAST received certificate on November 25, 2010 for next three years.

Process of translation of HAP Standard 2010 in Bangla • On the request of HAP secretariat in January 2011 COAST initiated the process for translation for bangla in the same year. • COAST sent the zero draft of bangla version through email to Concern Worldwide, Dan Church Aid, ECB and Save the Children, Tear fund, Christian Aid, Muslim Aid, World vision, Oxfam, Plan International, NIRAPAD, DSK, Dwip Unnayan Sangstha, CODEC, Rupantar.

  11. Process of translation of HAP Standard 2010 in Bangla • COAST organized a meeting on July 5, 2012 in its office and where the representative of following organization were present Concern Worldwide, Dan Church Aid, Tear fund, World vision, NIRAPAD, DSK, Dwip Unnayan Sangstha

Process of translation of HAP Standard 2010 in Bangla COAST again sent the 2nd draft to Concern Worldwide, Dan Church Aid, ECB and Save the Children, Tear fund, Christian Aid, Muslim Aid, World vision, Oxfam, Plan International, Islamic Relief Worldwide, NIRAPAD, DSK, Dwip Unnayan Sangstha, CODEC, Rupantar, Caritas, Action Aid, CARE Bangladesh.

  13. Process of translation of HAP Standard 2010 in Bangla The team finally met in COAST office on July 30, 2012 where the following representative were present. • Dan Church Aid, • Tear fund, • World vision, • NIRAPAD, • DSK, • Dwip Unnayan Sangstha, • Muslim Aid

  14. Process of translation of HAP Standard 2010 in Bangla • The document was edited by a professional editor. • Then it was finally printed on August 12, 2012.
