  18. Beliefs To Behaviors Protocol • Step 1: Each small group reads through the list of beliefs and chooses one or two that resonate(s) with the group. Additionally, one belief will be assigned. (5 min) • Step 2: As a group, the team completes the following phrases for each belief: (25 min) • If we believe that…, we will • If we believe that…, we will not… • Materials Manager will turn in work

  22. Vision Protocol • Step 1: Each small group reads through the list of key words and crafts/posts a statement that utilizes the most highly prioritized key words. (15 min) • Step 2: Each team chooses one person (the visionary) to represent them in the vision group.

  23. Broad statement (applied across the organization) of what we do to realize the vision. • Will change with context (could have more than one over time). • Does not describe business as usual. Mission

  24. Mission Protocol • Step 1: Each individual writes a mission statement. (5 min) • Step 2: Each team crafts and comes to agreement on one mission statement. (10 min) • Step 3: Each team chooses one person (the missionary) to represent them in the mission group.

  25. SWOT Protocol: NISD in Pictures As a group, draw a picture of the current state of the district as a vehicle. Metaphorically represent the strengths and weaknesses of the district in your picture. (15 min)

  27. SWOT Protocol • Strengths- What do we do better than others? • Weaknesses- What can we improve on? • Opportunities- What could help us move something from weakness to strength? • Threats- What are obstacles and barriers to improvement?

  28. Strengths Protocol • Step 1: Form teams of 10-12 with remaining team members and make introductions. Share two pictures with each other and explain. (5 min) • Step 2: Each individual makes a list of strengths of the district. (2 min) • Step 3: Each team compiles a complete list of strengths on SWOT chart noting repetitions. (10 min)

  29. Weaknesses Protocol • Step 1: Each individual makes a list of weaknesses of the district. (2 min) • Step 2: Each team compiles a complete list of weaknesses on SWOT chart noting repetitions. (10 min)

Opportunities Protocol • Step 1: Form 5 teams and have each team answer one of the following questions (5 min.) • What are the unique aspects of the community? • What are the possible partnership roles for local businesses? • What are the unique strengths of the student body? • What are the unique strengths of the staff? • What are the unique strengths of the leadership of the district? • Step 2: Each team shares and posts on SWOT chart (10 min. total)

Threats Protocol • Step 1: In the same teams, have each team answer one of the following questions (5 min.) • Who is our competition? • What are the threats to local control and other political threats to public education? • What are the economic threats? • What are the predicted social challenges and community challenges for our district? • How is technology impacting schools? • Step 2: Each team shares and posts on SWOT chart (10 min. total)
