  3. The Application • Important to get the right person to write the Application • Must cover the whole criteria • Use visual evidence in the application • Don’t rely on signposting to extra evidence • Use case studies and real experiences

  4. The Visit BCOT has • 700 employees (350 permanent) • 1300 employers who we work with • 18m turnover We had • 2 assessors for one day

  5. Who did they see? • Lead on New Standard • Principal • Finance Director • Director of Development and Partnerships • Business Unit delivery people • CoVE delivery people • HR Manager • 130 employers!!!!

The Visit They asked to see: • Strategic Plan • Customer Service protocols • Mystery Shop results • Staff development records showing training related to negotiation and sales • Employer proposal – standard qualification • Employer charter • Complaints procedure • CRAE • Quality Improvement Plan • SMT minutes • Product proposal

Our Action for Business Journey • Creation of a dedicated Business Unit with an Account Manager focus and strong links into curriculum areas • Better collection and use of LMI • CRMS used across the College • More employer feedback collected and used effectively • Targeted marketing • Investment in industry standard resources • Sales training for account managers • Employer friendly systems and procedures

  8. Key partner in the Business Link brokerage scheme • Sharing good practice with other colleges • Revamping the advisory committees to make them more relevant to local employers • The production of an employer friendly business directory • The production of an employers charter

  9. Creation of a strategy to monitor employer satisfaction at all stages of their journey with us • Job descriptions changed to include employer liaison • Employer engagement module for new staff • Secondments to industry for staff

  10. Without all those things we could not have achieved the New Standard • So many changes that we needed to make to become employer focussed
