  2. Elements of Need • Internet Student Access • Local Services (based on simultaneous users/LMS plus library/student support) • Externally Hosted Services • Richness of Local Content (text based/web conferencing/ desktop video/video-on-demand) • Redundant sources/redundant pathways

  3. Elements of Need • Interactive Video Services • Simultaneous Classes (0.3 mbps to 2mbps per course) • Picture and Content (increases bandwidth for effectiveness) • Desktop Support (technology used + number of access points)

  4. Elements of Need • VoIP Support • Shared Wide-Area Ethernet (10 mbps/100 mbps/1 gbps) • Residential Students (400 mbps per current student download)

  5. Elements of Need • Additional VPNs • External Campuses • Corporate Partners • Healthcare • Campus Security

  6. Elements of Need • WebServers • College Access and Activities • Community Partnerships • Athletics • Special Projects

  7. Current Structure • OC-3 Based (155 mbps) Broadband • Commodity Internet (30 – 75 mbps) • Redundant providers for 0 – 100+ mbps

  8. Three Year Need • Minimum 150 mbps Commodity Internet + 100 mbps per 1000 classroom students. • 2 mbps download capacity per residential student • Broadband and Internet redundancy • Minimum 50 mbps throughput to Internet2 • 10 mbps/100 mbps wide area Ethernet. Goal: Minimum 1 gbps Broadband for campus sites with 500+ FTE
