  3. E.M.S Network Rail has published its Sustainability Update report setting out progress in becoming a more sustainable business during 2012/13. Network Rail has also published its new Environmental Sustainability Policy Link; ISO 14001 Certification; Stage 1 Audit March 4th – 6th General progress has been good with most regions in the green

General Updates • Principal Contractor Licensing • The PCL requirements were presented at the Network Rail Infrastructure Integration group and has been approved • Next steps to be presented at SD exec • Environmental Poster • TB will be presenting this at the Environmental Steering Group to determine / seek endorsement as requested by RIEF • Environmental Competencies • The Env competencies, for IP staff were presented at the Network Rail Infrastructure Integration group and has been approved • Next steps – the competencies are being presented to the NR wide Competence Steering Group (this covers all NR staff)

  5. Work streams • 100% FSC timber in all our projects ; we have started to gather information on the percentage of FSC timber in projects. • Waste Targets ; our current waste targets are being revised. Once we have agreed on new industry best practice targets we will be looking for pilot projects to test these targets to ensure they are fit for IP.

  6. Work streams • A measurable net positive contribution to biodiversity; we are working with DEFRA and the Thames link project to create some practical ways of measuring biodiversity in projects and will again be looking for pilot projects that will help us test these procedures and refine them before rolling it out across the business. Eventually we will be covering all nine of our environmental objectives with several  work streams to update and embed these across IP.
