  2. Wyoming… • Population = 500,000 +/-. • Economy: • Energy extraction = $$$$$: • Transient. • Agriculture: • Stubborn. • Tourism: • Cranky. • 97,914 square miles: • 9th largest state.

Collaborative Example #1: Common Goal = We can do better for children and families; Mini CFSRs ! • 2002; • Mini CFSRs: • Federal CFSR instrument; • standardization among DFS offices, and • supplements training in “best practices.” • Train and team a citizen and DFS worker: • Gives citizens a voice; • enhances citizen’s knowledge of the system; • provides information to a number of other stakeholders, and • forces collaboration. • Stakeholder meetings during review week; • debriefing report; • exit meeting; • white papers, and • information sharing. • June 2008. Collaborative Example #2: Wyoming Child Major Injury and Fatality Review Team (WCMIFRT) An identified need from the Mini CFSR process. • Pre collaboration: • Child abuse and/or neglect major injuries or fatalities reviewed; • case worker inquisition; • same issues year after year; • low morale, and • decline in membership. • Post collaboration: • Pursuing legislation to broaden scope of review; • revised policies, procedures and by-laws; • national data submission; • vision and teambuilding, and • broaden the membership. Grade? B+ First Star = D +

Collaborative Example #3: Systems and You Networking and Collaborating (SYNC) Another identified need from the CFSR and Mini CFSR process. • Review process for state funded mental health centers: • Citizen involvement: • Only when an unlikely freezing process occurs somewhere! • Cornerstones: • Access to services; • Quality of services including recovery support, and • Coordination. • Same Language, and • having the discussion! Grade? D+

  7. Common goals discovered: • Children’s Justice Project; • Expansion of relations with the Northern Arapaho and Eastern Shoshone American Indians; • All of our positions are stronger when data driven, and • Consistency. Grade? A+

  8. Future Collaborative Projects: Common Goal; all originated from the CFSR and Mini CFSR process in some fashion! • Community Juvenile Services; • Ombudsman, and • Multi Disciplinary Teams (MDTs).
