  2. Climate Change & the Media • Panos and IIED have joined forces to support developing world journalism and perspectives from the heart of the international climate negotiations. Journalists from Asia, Asia-Pacific, Africa, the Middle East, the Caribbean and Latin America will take part in the climate change media partnership fellowship programme  designed to improve media coverage of climate change issues in developing countries.

Agriculture /Climate Change • Agricultural and nutritional diversification: greater crop diversity, mixed farming – spreading the risk • Agroforestry: trees on pasture, homestead orchards, windbreaks and hedges, fodder banks – use “fertiliser” trees where possible • Crop, livestock and human health: monitoring, prevention, treatment and containment • Develop infrastructure and markets: need adequate and functional transport, telecommunications, energy, storage, services (rural development, peri-urban development)

Climate Change Adaptation • Adjustment in natural or human systems to a new or changing environment • Adaptation to climate change refers to actions aimed at reducing the actual or expected impacts of climate change on a system, community or geographic location • Adaptation can include actions which exploit beneficial opportunities • Various types of adaptation can be distinguished, including anticipatory and reactive adaptation, private and public adaptation, and autonomous and planned adaptation
