  2. Today’s Learning Objectives Learn the various application processes for the following: • California States University (CSUs) schools • University of California (UCs) schools • Colleges & Universities affiliated with the Common Application process

  3. California States University (CSUs) application process

  4. CSU Mentor • This system allows students to upload their information to apply to any of the 23 California State University Systems • Students that are eligible for EOP (Educational Opportunity Program) may also apply through CSU Mentor • Students must have completed/In progress the A-G requirements, 2.0 GPA, and have taken the SAT or ACT Test by Dec of their senior year. • Students with a GPA of 3.0 and have taken the SAT/ACT have priority consideration to their CSU “Home School” • You will register for CSU mentor in the Spring of your 11th grade year in Advisory

Applying to University of California • 10 UC’s located throughout California There are 9 undergraduate universities • One application for all 9 campuses allows the student to submit their scores and transcripts and all the Universities will be able to receive them • Filing times are November 1-November 30 for Fall Entrance every year • Students must have completed/ In progress the A-G requirements, 3.0 GPA and taken the SAT or ACT by December of their senior year

Eligibility in the Local Context (ELC) • To be designated as ELC, a student must have attended an eligible, participating California high school, satisfactorily completed a specific pattern of 11 UC-approved courses prior to the start of senior year, and have a UC-calculated GPA that meets or exceeds the top 9 percent GPA benchmark established by UC for their school. To maintain the ELC status, the student must satisfy the general admissions requirements including the successful completion of the 15 required “a-g” courses, maintain a 3.0 GPA and submit an official copy of ACT with Writing or SAT Reasoning Test scores. • Your counselor notifies Universities who is in the top 9% of your class and meets ELC status • Having ELC status can guarantee admission to some UC’s

  12. Applying To Colleges & Universities Using The Common Application • This is a common standardized form that allows first time freshman to apply to more than 400 Universities. They are public and private institutions, large and small and even 2 international • Your advisory teacher has a list of participating schools • Admissions requirements vary by school, you can begin to apply October 1 of your 12th grade year • The Common App Website lists all schools that participate along with requirements to apply and any supplemental applications that are required

Non-Common Application, Private and Out-of-State Colleges & Universities • Universities that are not a part of the CSU, UCs or Common Applications systems can be applied to via their individual websites or state out of CA state system sites. • Visit each college’s Website to learn the specific school’s undergraduate application process and deadlines
