  1. What genre/s of music will your magazine cover? My music magazine will cover neo-soul music, Neo soul is a sub-genre of contemporary R&B or poetry with music. The music itself is usually a hybrid of 1970s-influenced soul music with influences from jazz, funk, hip hop and occasionally house music with a hint of rhythm and blues. I have chosen to focus on this genre because I feel this genre is a unknown genre and felt it would be interesting to learn something new. • Who is the target audience? How old are they? were do they live? And what are their interests? I have chosen to focus on females from London through the ages of late adolescence all the way through adulthood to be precise 19 and onwards I have chosen to focus on a more mature age simply because I feel people who are any younger than my age range will not understand nor be interested in neo soul music which will mean my magazine will not attract them and to make sure this was true I gave out questionnaires to make sure and as a result the majority of the people I asked agreed that any one younger than 19 will definitely not be interested in reading neither purchasing my magazine.

  2. What is the name of your magazine? why ? Conations? I have chosen to name my magazine Solangé personally because I love the way it flows of your tongue which is good because when people are purchasing my magazine they wont forget the name of it as it is short and sweet and easy to remember, I also feel it is different and unique. Originally the name solangé is from the origin of France meaning sun angel or soul angel however when pronounced in English sol sounds like soul which I felt linked very well with my music genre which is neo soul. • What will your masthead look like? My masthead will be both bold in colour and size so people can see it from a distance when people want to purchase it, also I feel the colours will represent neo soul art because when researching I found out that neo soul culture is about colour as well as the music that combine to make neo soul. I will also try to add a certain style to my mast head not just to make it look attractive and unique but also so when people see my magazine they know it is the one and only solangé. • What will be the focal image for your front cover and why? My main front cover will be of a girl since my magazine is for inspiring young ladies transforming to be a distinguishing woman in society so I thought maybe playing an instrument to represent the different instruments that are used in neo soul music today.

  3. What photography will be required? Give details of shot type angle, composition? I decided I want a mid/long shot close up for my front cover picture simply because I want every detail of the photo that represents neo soul to be shown in the photography I will also make sure my model is looking directly towards the camera to portray a bond between both the readers and the model which is good as it helps the reader to engage more with the magazine. • What would be your sell lines? How will you entice your target audience? When creating my front cover for my magazine my sell lines will be around the model and not on the model as I feel it could ruin the picture as it may look very messy. When considering my sell lines I must think of my readers which in my case are woman who are inspired by being different and being unique like neo soul some of the sell lines I thought of were: 30 + beauty buys that wont break the bank. Or straight from the catwalk what's in and whatson this season and many more however during the pre production stage I may change my mind to see what is best suited for my magazine and my target audience. • What items and feature articles would you need on your contents page? my contents page will have advertisement and competitions as well as quotes from articles that are inside the magazine to help my readers to get a summary of what is inside the magazine .

  4. What is the focus of your double page spread?(interview? feature? review? etc) The focus of my double page spread will be on a newly discovered solo star who has just released a single and has gone platinum in the biggest country for music today America she goes by the name of “summer bell” in the article she will talk about her journey to the way to the top were she talks about everything happening for a reason as she is glad it has taken her such a long time to be discovered as she believes all her issues and mistakes she has made on the way to the top is what has made her who she is today . I will be doing this article as a I think this is best suited for my magazine. • What mise en scene will be required? Location? Clothing? Makeup? Lighting? Use of colour? When taking my pictures for my magazine I will be taking pictures outside and inside. taking pictures outside is good as it will help to show the natural lighting of the outside environment and taking pictures inside is also good as you have indoor lighting such as lamps and candles to create a better picture (colour wise).I will also be using make up on my model as I feel it could help enhance the picture into being to a great standard.

  5. What photography will be required for the double page spread? Give specific details. When considering photos for my double page spread I think I will have one picture going across the two pages personally because I think having one picture looks less messy and helps the audience to focus on one picture than to be looking at three or four. I also believe in quality and not quantity for an example I could have one double page spread with lots of pictures and another with only one how ever if the picture is not to a great standard I strongly believe it will not convey the message therefore I must keep in mind when creating my magazine my aim and hypothesis to help convey my message.
