  1. . • Get involved with research! Need a cardiologist? Monique Anderson will be available to see patients with cardiology needs beyond the scope of primary care every other Thursday, just place patient visit in the for line in your follow up section! Two upcoming studies, an asthma and family history study, will be taking place at the DOC. Look for info in the near future. Great job closing notes within 72 hours! We can do better—lets aim for 24 hours. DOC Newsletter: April 2014 • Ain’t Nobody Got Time for That!! • …well, now we do! • Beginning in May, there will be a new PROCEDURE CLINIC: • Biopsies (skin) • Joint injections • Cryotherapy • Paps/pelvics meeting preapproved criteria • Put in “for” line in follow up section Nexplanon is available at DOC -refer to Dr. Bowlby in follow up section for insertion Patients asking for an aide or presenting a form for “Personal Care Services” Personal Care Services is a Medicaid benefit. To be eligible, a patient must have an unmet need for hands on assistance with at least 3 of the following activities: dressing, toileting, bathing, eating and moving about in the home.  This is difficult to assess accurately in the clinic, and an aide may not be the most effective or cost effective way to meet the need.  Northern Piedmont Community Care partners with the DOC  by having an occupational therapist assess the patient at home.  If a patient asks for an aide or presents you with a form: ·         Send the form, unsigned, to Carolyn Lawrence, who will notify Northern Piedmont. OR ·         Send an email or inbasket message to carol.siebert@duke.edu with the patient’s name and MRN.
