  3. Numbers 13:30 And Caleb stilled the people before Moses, and said, Let us go up at once, and possess it; for we are well able to overcome it. 31. But the men that went up with him said, We be not able to go up against the people; for they are stronger than we.

  4. Wholly Followed the Lord “but my servant Caleb, because he had another spirit with him, and has followed me fully, him will I bring into the land into which he went; and his seed shall possess it.” Num.14:24 “Nevertheless my brethren that went up with me made the heart of the people melt: but I wholly followed the LORD my God.” Jos.14:8

  5. “I Wholly” Followed the Lord Paul: “I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith.” 2Tim.4:7 Jesus: “I have finished the work which You have given Me to do.” John 17:4 NKJV

  6. “I Wholly” Followed the Lord Are we giving the Lord our Best ? “And whatever you do, do it heartily, as to the Lord and not to men,” Col. 3:23 “Whatever your hand finds to do, do it with your might; for there is no work or device or knowledge or wisdom in the grave where you are going.” Eccl. 9:10

  7. Had Strong Convictions • “he had another spirit” Num. 14:24 • Strong convictions • Minority report - along with Joshua • Did not straddle the fence • Not afraid to stand up for right things

We need Strong Convictions Not afraid to confront the issues 2 Tim.3:7 “Ever learning but not able to come to a knowledge of the truth.” 1 Kings 18:21 asv “How long go ye limping between the two sides? if Jehovah be God, follow him; but if Baal, then follow him.” Caleb was a man of strong Convictions !!

Caleb was not LUKEWARM Revelation 3:14-16 - Laodicea “I will vomit you out of My mouth.” Lukewarmness • Satisfied with half hearted service • Never built an ark • Never Laid a son on the altar • Did not Lead Israel out of Egypt • Could not give a favorable report • Does not care about the church • Is not concerned about saving souls

  10. Man of Faith and Courage Believed they could take the land Num. 13:30 “And Caleb stilled the people before Moses, and said, Let us go up at once, and possess it; for we are well able to overcome it.” Num.14:9 “the Lord is with us: fear them not”

  11. We need Faith and Courage Must believe that we an take the world for Christ Matt. 28:19-20 “I am with you always

  12. We need Faith and Courage Courage to say they could take the land Realized there was danger We must have courage to spread the Gospel The devil is opposed to our work Eph. 6:16 “shield of faith” 1 Cor. 16:13 ESV “Be watchful, stand firm in the faith, act like men, be strong.”

  13. Patient Man Caleb was a 40 years of age when they spied the land Had to wait 40 more years Then it was 5 more years Did not grow weary in waiting Did not show a resentful spirit Joshua 14:10-11 85 years of age As strong as on the day that … Now is my strength for war…

  14. Patient We must be Galatians 6:9 “And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not.” Patience is the ability to wait and endure without complaining.

  15. Did not allow himself to be Put “On the Shelf” Joshua 14:10-15 He was 85 Requested to live in Hebron Place where the giants lived Cities were great and fenced “the Lord will be with me”

  16. We must not allow ourself to be Put “On the Shelf” • Grow more useful in the church • Become strong in the faith • Grow in grace • More useful as we grow older • No retirement in Christianity

  18. Caleb was worthy of imitation • Wholly followed the Lord • Had strong convictions • Was not lukewarm • A man of faith and courage • A patient man • Did not allow himself to be put on a shelf

  19. “Surely none of the men that came up out of Egypt, from twenty years old and upward, shall see the land which I sware unto Abraham, unto Isaac, and unto Jacob; because they have not wholly followed me:” Number 32:11

  20. “Save Caleb the son of Jephunneh the Kenezite, and Joshua the son of Nun: for they have wholly followed the LORD.” Number 32:12

  21. Caleb received the Inheritance We will receive an inheritance If we fully follow the Lord
