  2. Early Life • Sergio Leone was born on January 3th, 1929 in Rome, Lazio, Italy. • His family was deep into the film business. His father, Vincenzo Leone, was a cinema pioneer. His mother, EdvigeValcarenghi, was a film actress. • At a young age, Sergio Leone worked with his father. • Sergio would go into the film industry at the age of 18 because he dropped out of law studies at the university.

Positive Contributions • Leone founded “Spaghetti Westerns” • Spaghetti Westerns were western movies created in Southern Italy because the scenery looked the same. • His film-making style includes close-up shots with lengthy long shots. • He directed “sword and sandal” films, which were extremely popular at the time. • Leone was able to make lots of money of films that did not cost him much to begin with.
