  3. Celt Style The Celts had unique style and took pride in their appearance. • Bright embroidered shirts • Bracae • Cloaks (heavy in winter, light in summer) • Bronze Helmets • Horns • Chains • Jewelry

  4. Celts Land About 500 BCE the Celts settled in modern day Ireland, Wales, Scotland and the Isle of Man. • Small Farms • No Big Cities • No Empire

  5. Celt Enemies The Celts were always looking for a fight. Their enemies were • Romans • Themselves When they had no one to fight they fought upon themselves. War was sometimes • Bright clothes • Screaming insults Mostly it was blood and death.

  6. Government Celts were spread out all over most of North Europe. The language, beliefs, and government were all the same. They were • Chieftain • Aristocracy

  7. Traditions • There was no specific traditions except that the women would always get the land until marriage.

  8. Food The Celts did not have supermarkets or stores where they could buy food. They never wasted food. • Pork • Beef • Fowl • Dolphin • Fresh or saltwater fish • Seal • Whale • Deer • Leeks • Onions • Turnips • Parsnips • Carrots • Hazelnuts • Walnuts • Gooseberries • Blueberries • Blackberries • Garlic • Parsley • Spinach • Skins • Fur • Horn • Bones • And feathers • And of coarse drinks • Beer • Ale • Wine • Boar • Bear • Fox • Beaver • Chicken • Goat • Sheep • Pigs

  9. Wars • The Celts were not very good at getting “along” with anyone at all. The wars were • Many with romans • Even more between themselves

  10. Currency The Celtic money was • Gold • Silver • Bronze (like the Olympics!) • Copper • And ring like

  11. Inventions A couple Celtic inventions were • Soap • Irish linen • Plaids • Irish jigs • Reels • Fiddle • Bagpipes • Harp • Longbow • Many folk and fairy tails

  12. Weapons • The weapons they used were • Swords with gems • Spears • Daggers • Javelins • Slings • Axes • All very decorated • Ranged weapons were seen as very cowardly
