  3. I. Pretest Prep • Please emphasize the importance of SAT10. • SAT10 measures their knowledge base at grade level. • If students and teachers take this test seriously, then scores will yield valid data. • Remind them of test taking tips.

  4. All Students: -9th grade -10th grade -11th grade -12th grade Exemptions: -ESL 1st Year Students -SPED students w/ alt. assessment -Most accommodations will be tested separately Students to be Tested

  5. II.Affidavit Forms • Form must be signed today • You will: • Maintain confidentiality of test contents • Not copy any part of test or directions • Limit access by students only to actual testing periods

  8. III. Material Distribution & Collection • Materials: • will be distributed at sites. (TBA) • will be counted & initialed for daily on inventory sheet. • will include; Teacher Packet, pencils, practice test (1st day), bubble sheets, test booklets, rulers, math formula sheet, etc. • must be picked up to ensure testing begins promptly • must be returned to distribution site as soon as the bell rings. • must be secured at all times

  9. IV. Testing Instructions • never leave your test materials unattended • seat students in alphabetical order to facilitate testing efficiency • sub tests are not to be tested in the order they appear in the manual/test booklet • follow the test schedule handout

  10. follow the directions as scripted in manual, Do not stray from it (exception - unless testing Special Ed or ESL students with modification requirements) tell students that answer documents and SAT10 booklets are to be kept neat and clean; no folding, stapling, writing, graffiti or mutilations.

  11. a blank sheet of paper between the answer documents when folded over will help keep answer document/test booklets from smudging the answers from one side to the other. after giving directions for each subtest, ensure that students are: on the correct subtest answering in the correct section of the answer document

After the last test of the day: collect the test booklets as soon testing is completed have students clean (erase all stray marks) their answer documents have students review and correct demographics daily “Other Information” and Teachers use only” are confidential (please do not ask students if they are sped, low income, ESL, etc.)

  13. Before leaving your test site, be sure to count your test booklets and answer documents. Students have been known to walk out with them. Ultimately, you are responsible for them!

  14. V. Final Material Collection • At the end of all testing: • recheck all demographics for accuracy and cleanliness (Use May 13 & 14 for review) • alphabetize answer sheets • separate ESL and SPED answer sheets

  15. Testing Times • Do not timestudents! • This is not a timed test! • approximate times on the test schedule are there to help you gauge if there is enough time to do a make-up test.

  16. Make up tests • students are to work only on that day’s scheduled subtest or one that they had missed and need to make up. • students are not to work ahead nor go back to a test they had already worked on. Once they stop, that is it!

  17. VI. Demographic Info • Changes to answer document: • on space provided for “Teacher”, indicate students graduation year • graduation year is listed on the roster under column “GRAD” • SCHOOL: John F. Kennedy H.S.

Answer Documents/Bubble Sheets • Please have students fill in circles/ovals completely • No cursive writing • Use block lettering • Do not let students write outside of the borders of each information box (you will need to tell students to erase outside of box marks or you can do it yourself)

  23. How to fill out the demographics: • BOX 2: • Last Name and First Name are LEFT justified • bubble in corresponding letters • leave empty boxes blank but fill in blank bubbles • Middle Initial • bubble in corresponding letters • if no M.I. leave empty box but fill in blank bubble

How to fill out the demographics: • BOX 3: • Date of Birth • Month: Bubble in Month • Day: Write numbers for birth date and fill in corresponding bubbles (if birthdate is a single digit place a 0 before the number, i.e.. 08) • Year: Fill in the bubble indicating the 19, then write in the numbers for the year born and bubble corresponding numbers (i.e.. 95) *do not let students pencil in “19” in the gray shaded box!

How to fill out the demographics: • BOX 4: • Gender: Bubble in the correct gender (Male or Female) • BOX 5: • Race/Ethnicity: Bubble in only ONE • BOX 6: • Grade: Bubble in student’s grade level • do not let students bubble in their “I believe I’m grade 10” when they are grade 9 • see your roster (all students in your class are the same grade level)

  26. How to fill out the demographics: • BOX 7: • Student Number: This number will be provided with your class list. Please make sure that the number is RIGHT justified. Place a “0”in the first box and then the student’s number (this 9 digit no. is provided on your student roster) *you may have to do this one individually! • have students bubble in 0 first, then the 9 digit number

These will not be completely filled out, as you will only bubble those pertaining to your student. • Please do these when you have available time. LOTE) students • Bubble in 0- If the student Exited ESL • Bubble in 1- If the student is under CONSULTATION and PENDING ESL • Bubble in 2- If the student is ESL Without ACCOMODATIONS • Bubble in 3- If the student is in ESL With ACCOMODATIONS

How to fill out the demographics: • BOX 8: • Column B: Special Education Students • Bubble 0: For all SPED students who took the SAT 10 Without ACCOMODATIONS • Bubble 1: For all SPED students who took the SAT 10 With ACCOMODATIONS • Bubble 2: For all SPED students who took the SAT 10 With PARTIAL ACCOMMODATIONS

How to fill out the demographics: • Column D: Ethnic Identity • Have students fill in the grid according to their ethnicity 0- Unknown 1- Chamorro (including GUAM, ROTA, SAIPAN, TINIAN) 2- Filipino 3- White, non-Hispanic 4- Asian (Vietnamese, Chinese, Korean, Indonesian, Japanese) 5- Federated Stated of Micronesia (Chuukese, Pohnpeian, Kosraean, Yapese) 6- Palauan (Belauan) 7- Marshallese 8- other Pacific Islander (Hawaiian, Samoan, etc.) 9- other/mixed (ethnic categories other than 1-8 who ID themselves with more than one ethnic category)

  31. How to fill out the demographics: • Column H: Indicate if the students is participating in the FREE/Reduced Lunch Program by bubbling in: • 0- for those receiving FREE Lunch • 1- for those receiving REDUCED Lunch

  32. How to fill out the demographics: • Column I: Indicate the student’s ALPs or Alternative Learning Path by bubbling in: • 0- College Path • 1- Career or Vocational Path

How to fill out the demographics: • BOX 9: Fill out the students Special Services by bubbling in the following: • Bubble in C- If the student is under Special Education with an IEP • Bubble in D- If the student is otherwise qualified handicapped under section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973

  34. BOX 10: This is for Special Conditions. You indicate students disability based on the codes below:

  35. How to fill out the demographics: • BOX 11: indicate the student’s English Proficiency Status by bubbling the following: • English Proficient- Bubble in E Proficient • English Learner- Bubble in E Learner ** if ESL then EL. All others are EP.

  36. How to fill out the demographics: • BOX 12: if “H” in Box 8 bubbled, then must bubble “A”, all others are “B” indicate the student’s Economic Status by the following: • Bubble in A If the students is economically disadvantaged- • Bubble in B If the student is NOT economically disadvantaged

  37. How to fill out the demographics: • Please make sure that the student’s name is indicated on the answer form on the inside page- Last Name, First Name and Middle Initial (Cruz, John Q.) • NOTE: Do not fill out the Otis Lennon School Ability Test

  38. Modifications • ESL and SPED: • Some ESL and SPED students who need modifications are testing with the general population • These students are identified on your roster (see column “Modify” for specific information)

  39. Typical Modifications • Repeat directions • Simplify directions • Preferential seating • Calculator use for Math Problem Solving • Multiplication table • Frequent breaks

  40. VII. Duties of Rovers • report to your assigned distribution site ASAP • If a teacher is absent from your site or other sites, you may be asked to test for that teacher • If you are not testing, you will be helping with distributing test materials

  41. Rover duties pt 2 • Make sure you count all materials leaving distributing site and count them again when returned. Please initial form each time. You will be responsible if test materials are missing when you counted them in. • After all test materials have been distributed, be in your assigned area to help teachers for bathroom breaks or to run errands. Return to your distributing site before the end of the testing to count materials in.

  42. VIII. Duties Of Substitutes & School Aides • Clear hall ways of students ASAP • Students should know where to go to be tested; if not, use the attached sheets or the wall rosters to find where to send them. If you can’t find their name on the list, send them to see Ms. Santos in the counseling office

  43. Substitutes & School Aides pt 2 • Be in your assigned area to help teachers for bathroom breaks or to run errands during the testing • Let your test site counselor know if any teacher is missing from a test room
