  1. status of the machines over X-mas standby period, services required and plans for rapid start-up OP Group Meeting KH

  2. cooling circuits • cooling circuits require 200-300 kW heat load in order not to freeze • circuits of the equipment must not be separated from the main cooling circuit • for the temperature surveillance (BE/OP/TI) alarms must be available KH

  3. cooling circuits - IEFC 19/10/12

  4. cooling circuits - IEFC 19/10/12 • CV will intensify the rounds during the closure especially if the weather is cold. • On Monday January 7th , CV will restart : • PS : FDED-00032 PS Magnet • POPS: FTEB-00046 • POPS will be fully operational on Tuesday. S.Deleval – IEFC 19/10/12

  5. 6. February 2012: a good example • Extremely cold and windyweather • All the primary circuits were running with a reducedload. • Large amount of problems on drinkable and fire hydrant circuits but the primary circuits hadwellresisted • POPS start up wasdelayedbecause the filling circuit wasfrozen → corrective workacheived. IEFC 19 October 2012 S.Deleval – IEFC 19/10/12

  6. proton machines, status • Linac2 (see EDMS 1235164): • source pulsing, beam on source beam stopper • most converters on • RF off • vacuum maintained • PSB: • some TT2 converters on • all other converters off • RF off • vacuum maintained • PS: • converters off • RF off • vacuum maintained • SPS: • power converters off • RF power amplifiers on (dampers, TWC800, TWC200, IOT prototype in BB3) • vacuum maintained • cooling stays on KH

  7. proton machines, services • * EN/CV and EN/EL provide always piquet service • ‘best effort’ service during working hours, but somebody must be reachable • piquets which are not required (magnets, kickers, LL RF, … do not appear) • magnets: in case of water leaks best effort • OP: TI plus support from beam operators plus supervisor KH

  8. ion machines, status • Linac3 (see EDMS 1235164): • source pulsing, beam on source beam stopper • most converters on • RF off • vacuum maintained • LEIR: • all converters off • RF off • magnetic cycle prepared in case of re-start • vacuum maintained KH

  9. ion machines, services • * EN/CV and EN/EL provide always piquet service • ‘best effort’ service during working hours, but somebody must be reachable • piquets which are not required (magnets, kickers, LL RF, … do not appear) • magnets: in case of water leaks best effort KH

  10. other services • GS: • roads cleared • fire brigade informed • lifts • DSO coverage • references: • Linacs: EDMS 1235164 KH

  11. 2013 start-up beam to be given downstream as soon as ready beam parameters to be confirmed well before X-mas KH
