  1. IN THE BEGINNING

  2. IN THE BEGINNINGS GENESIS THE BOOK OF BEGINNINGS Part #1 & 2

  3. THE PURPOSE OF THE BOOK OF GENESIS GENESIS The purpose of Genesis is to show us the beginning of salvation history—the story of God and man, sin and grace, wrath and mercy, covenant and redemption. These themes are repeated often throughout the rest of the Bible. As the Book of Revelation is the climax and conclusion of the Bible, so the Book of Genesis is the beginning and essential SEEDPLOT of the Bible. Thus, Genesis is an important book for understanding the meaning of the entire Bible.

  4. THE IMPORTANCE OF GENESIS GENESIS "Christianity has fought, still fights, and will continue to fight science to the desperate end over evolution, because evolution destroys utterly and finally the very reason Jesus' earthly life was supposedly made necessary. Destroy ADAM and EVE and the ORIGINAL SIN, and in the RUBBLEyou will find the sorry remains of the Son of God. If Jesus was not the redeemer who died for our sins, and this is what evolution means, then Christianity is nothing." - R. Bozarth 1979: 30, “The Meaning of Evolution” American Atheist Magazine,

  5. Herbert Spencer - Philosopher, claimed the all matter had to have one or all the following: GENESIS GENESIS In the beginning TIME - Herbert Spencer (1820–1903). FORCE - God Created Little did Herbert Spencer knew that the very things he was talking about was found in the FIRST verse of the Bible (Gen 1:1). ACTION - SPACE - the heavens MATTER - and earth

  6. THE BOOK OF BEGINNINGS GENESIS Genesis is the book of beginnings. The word means "origins" or "beginnings." sets the stage for the rest of the Bible. GENESIS 1. REVEALS GOD"A PLAN FOR SALVATION - 2. REVEALS THE VALUE OF HUMAN LIFE -

  7. THE BOOK OF BEGINNINGS GENESIS GENESIS 3. REVEALS THE NATURE OF GOD AS CREATOR AND REDEEMER - ++++ GOD IS ALL POWERFUL ++++ ++++ GOD IS ALL FORGIVING ++++ 4. REVEALS THAT MAN IS CREATED IN HIS IMAGE AND FOR HIS PURPOSE -

  8. THE BOOK OF BEGINNINGS GENESIS GENESIS 5. REVEALS THE TERRIBLE CONSEQUENCES OF DISOBEDIENCE OF SIN - 6. REVEALS THAT BECAUSE OF SIN AND DISOBEDIENCE MAN IS SEPERATED FOR GOD - 2. Cor. 4:3-4 SIN GOD MAN MAN IS BLINEDED BY HIS SIN & SATAN

  9. THE BOOK OF BEGINNINGS GENESIS GENESIS 7. REVEALS THE WONDERFUL PROMISE OF SALVATION AND FORGIVENESS THROUGH THE COMING MESSIAH (Genesis 3:15) SALVATION FORGIVNESS

  10. THE BOOK OF BEGINNINGS GENESIS GENESIS IS THE FOUNDATION OF DOCTRINE 1. THE DOCRTINE OF GOD - God is mentioned thirty two times in thirty one verses in chapter one. The personal pronoun is used forty three times. The opening chapter is filled with the presence of God. We are introduced to the various names and attributes of God which are descriptive of His character. GOD IS MENTIONED 202 TIMES IN GENESIS

  11. THE BOOK OF BEGINNINGS GENESIS GENESIS GENESIS IS THE FOUNDATION OF DOCTRINE 2. THE DOCTRINE OF THE TRINITY - The Hebrew word for God in Genesis 1:1 is "Elohim" which means plurality in unity: three personages yet one God. We see the relationship between the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit as being "one." ANY HEBREW WORD ENDING WITH "IM" IS ALWASY PLURAL

  12. THE TRINIRY FATHER GENESIS TRINITY IS is not is not GOD IS SON SPIRIT IS is not

  13. THE BOOK OF BEGINNINGS GENESIS GENESIS GENESIS GENESIS IS THE FOUNDATION OF DOCTRINE 3. THE DOCTRINE OF SIN - Sin entered into the world through Adam (Rom. 5:12-14). This does away with the idea of Adam walking around on a giant fossil bed. All of creation, including the animals, were affected by the sin of Adam -(Rom. 8:18-23). This brought about death. It was not the fall of Lucifer.

  14. THE BOOK OF BEGINNINGS GENESIS GENESIS GENESIS GENESIS IS THE FOUNDATION OF DOCTRINE 4. THE DOCTRINE OF SATAN - Gen. 3; Eph. 6:11; 2 Cor. 2:11 We learn something of how Satan operates in this opening book. He causes doubt, disbelief, and denial of God's Word. He subtly tries to destroy the children of God through temptation and enticement making sin look good but hiding the consequences – (Gen. 3:1-8) SIN IS ALWAYS A PLEASURE FOR A SEASON - Heb. 11:25

  15. THE BOOK OF BEGINNINGS GENESIS GENESIS GENESIS GENESIS IS THE FOUNDATION OF DOCTRINE 5. THE DOCTRINE OF SALVATION - (Gen. 3) Evolution says that we have arrived where we are through many cycles of death and bloodshed. The Bible says that we are where we are because of sin. We are shown that the consequence of sin is death - (Gen. 2:17; Rom. 6:23). We are presented with the shedding of blood, of a substitute, as the only means of covering our sin.

  16. THE BOOK OF BEGINNINGS GENESIS GENESIS GENESIS GENESIS IS THE FOUNDATION OF DOCTRINE Outside of the shed blood, man is separated from God. From the very beginning of time there has only been two religions; one by faith which trusts in the shed blood of a substitute and the other trusts in its own efforts. Salvation is made personal by faith (Gen. 15:6; Gen. 22; Acts 16:31). "BELIEVE ON THE LORD JESUS CHRIST & YOU WILL BE SAVED . . . " - Acts 16:31

  17. EVOLUTION SAYS," MAN ON HIS WAY UP." GENESIS GENESIS GENESIS THE BIBLE SAYS "MAN IN ON HIS WAY DOWN." Romans 6:23a "THE WAGES OF SIN IS " DEATH

  18. EVOLUTION SAYS," MAN ON HIS WAY UP." GENESIS GENESIS GENESIS Gen. 1:26a -Then God said, "Let US make man in OURIMAGE, according to OUR likeness . . “ Gen. 1:27a - So God created man in His OWN IMAGE; in the image of God He created him . . . “ GOD'S IMAGE HERE'S THE BIG QUESTION!! BODY SOUL SPIRIT

  19. EVOLUTION SAYS," MAN ON HIS WAY UP." GENESIS GENESIS GENESIS C S Lewis suggests that before the Fall, the first man, Adam mirrored Christ the man of Galilee even more nearly than Christ would have resembled his own half-brothers. If this is so, it seems a BLASPHEME to consider Adam as being an ape or a monkey.

  20. IN THE BEGINNING

  21. IN THE BEGINNINGS GENESIS THE BOOK OF BEGINNINGS Part #2

  22. THE PURPOSE OF THE BOOK OF GENESIS GENESIS • The purpose of Genesis is to show us the beginning of salvation history, the story of Godand man, sin and grace, wrath and mercy, covenant and redemption. These themes are repeated often throughout the rest of the Bible. As the Book of Revelation is the climax and conclusion of the Bible, so the Book of Genesis is the beginning and essential SEEDPLOT of the Bible. Genesis is an important book for understanding the meaning of the entire Bible.

  23. THE BOOK OF BEGINNINGS GENESIS GENESIS GENESIS GENESIS GENESIS IS THE FOUNDATION OF DOCTRINE 6. THE SECRUITY OF THE BELIEVER - The security of the believer is seen in Noah's ark. All who were OUTSIDE of the ark were destroyed while all those on the inside were saved. We are safe "in Christ" but all outside of Christ will face the wrath of God – John 3:36 Illustration – (John10: 22-30)

  24. THE SECURITY OF THE BELIEVER IS SEEN IN NOAH ARK The Ark was 450 feet long, 75 feet wide, and 45 feet high. They say the Ark had 1,500,000 cubic feet of space, which equal the capacity of 570 modern railroad cattle cars. As the Ark’s total capacity was 570 cars, then 40,000 animals would require less than 30% of the Ark's space.

  25. THE BOOK OF BEGINNINGS GENESIS GENESIS GENESIS GENESIS GENESIS IS THE FOUNDATION OF DOCTRINE 7. THE DOCTRINE OF SEPARATION - Enoch walked with God and NOT with the world. Abraham separated himself from his former lifestyle in Ur of the Chaldees to take up residence in the Promised Land. Lot is an example of one who did not practice the principle of SEPARATION and suffered the consequences (2 Cor. 6:14-18; II Peter 2:6-9).

  26. THE BOOK OF BEGINNINGS GENESIS GENESIS GENESIS GENESIS GENESIS GENESIS IS THE FOUNDATION OF DOCTRINE 8. THE DOCTRINE OF CHASTISEMENT - Jacob walked in the flesh and God brought chastisement into his life until he repented (Heb. 12:4-11).

  27. THE BOOK OF BEGINNINGS GENESIS GENESIS GENESIS GENESIS GENESIS GENESIS IS THE FOUNDATION OF DOCTRINE 9. THE DOCTRINE OF RAPTURE - Before the tribulation of the flood, Enoch is raptured home to be with God (Gen. 5:21-24). Before the seven year tribulation period, the Church will be raptured home to be with God (I Thess. 4:13-18).

  28. THE BOOK OF BEGINNINGS GENESIS GENESIS GENESIS GENESIS GENESIS GENESIS IS THE FOUNDATION OF DOCTRINE 10. THE DOCTRINE OF THE RESURRECTION - Gen. 22; Heb. 11:19 Isaac was raised from the place of death, as Jesus was raised up from the dead – (Gen. 22. Heb 11:17-19)

  30. THE BOOK OF BEGINNINGS GENESIS GENESIS GENESIS GENESIS GENESIS GENESIS IS THE FOUNDATION OF DOCTRINE 11. THE DOCTRINE OF CHRIST - We see Christ very clearly in the life of Joseph. A study of types, which are things common in characteristicsmakes this truth very clear. We see Christ figured in Melchizedek, the priest-king – (Heb 7:1-21)

  31. THE LIFE OF JOSEPH - (Gen. Chapters 37-50) GENESIS The Old Testament character who typically portrays Christ in more ways than any other is Joseph. There are 57 way in which Joseph portrays Christ Joseph was a SHEPHERD. vs. 1 Jesus is the GOOD SHEPHERD, who gave his life for his sheep and feeds them. John 10:11 Joseph was the beloved SON of his father. vs. 2 Jesus is the beloved SON of God the Father. Matthew 3:17

  32. THE LIFE OF JOSEPH - (Gen. Chapters 37-50) GENESIS GENESIS Joseph was HATED because of who he was and what he said. vs. 5 Jesus was HATED because of who he was, John 10:30,31, and what he said. John 7:7 Joseph was ENVIED by his brothers. vs. 11 Jesus was ENVIED by the Jews. Matthew 27:18

  33. THE LIFE OF JOSEPH - (Gen. Chapters 37-50) GENESIS GENESIS GENESIS Joseph came to his own brothers and they did not RECEIVE him. vs. 15,16 Jesus came to His own and they RECEIVED him not. John 1:11 Joseph's brethren conspired against him to KILL him. vs. 18 The Jews conspired against Jesus to KILL him. John 11:53

  34. THE LIFE OF JOSEPH - (Gen. Chapters 37-50) GENESIS GENESIS GENESIS Joseph was moved with COMPASSION towards his brethren. vs. 2 Jesus was moved with COMPASSION toward the Jews. Matthew 9:36 Joseph WARNED man to be ready for the future. vs. 32 Jesus WARNED men to be ready for the future. Matthew 24:44

  35. THE LIFE OF JOSEPH - (Gen. Chapters 37-50) GENESIS GENESIS GENESIS Joseph was sold for TWENTY pieces of silver at the suggestion of Judah. vs. 26-28 Jesus was sold for THIRTY pieces of silver by Judas. Matthew 26:15 Joseph was stripped out of his COAT. vs. 23 Jesus was stripped out of his ROBE. Matthew 27:28

  36. THE BOOK OF BEGINNINGS GENESIS GENESIS GENESIS GENESIS GENESIS GENESIS GENESIS IS THE FOUNDATION OF DOCTRINE 12. THE DOCTRINE OF THE ANT-CHRIST - (Gen. 3:15) The SEED of the serpent in verse Gen.3:15 refers to the Anti-Christ who will be a Satan-possessed man (2 Thess. 2: 1-12).

  37. THE BOOK OF BEGINNINGS GENESIS GENESIS GENESIS GENESIS GENESIS GENESIS GENESIS IS THE FOUNDATION OF DOCTRINE 13. THE DOCTRINE OF JUDGEMENT - Judgment is depicted in Cain (4:9); the flood (Ch. 6-8); and Sodom and Gomorrah (Ch. 19). The questions could be asked: "Does Genesis mention eternal hell?" Jude tells us of Sodom and Gomorrah, "...suffering the vengeance of ETERNALFIRE." (Jude 7)

  38. Cain Murder his brother Abel - Gen. 4:1-25

  39. THE BOOK OF BEGINNINGS GENESIS GENESIS GENESIS GENESIS GENESIS GENESIS Conclusion: The importance of the book of Genesis as being a trustworthy and true account of historical and actual events is hopefully evident.  Not only does it contain the true history of man’s fall, but also the promise of the coming REDEEMER. To destroy the book of Genesis is Satan main goal. He will use any one to accomplish his task. When the theory of evolution came along, it was just what he was looking for, and it did not take long for people jump on the BANDWAGON and follow it.

  40. THE BOOK OF BEGINNINGS GENESIS GENESIS GENESIS GENESIS GENESIS GENESIS Conclusion: We need to always remember that Genesis is the foundation of doctrine and Satan will try to discredit it in any way he can. He has his minister world wide saying, “That Genesis is full of myths.” Starting in Genesis and learning God’s from there, will keep you on track as you grow in your Christian life. Remember, a LIE start with a LIAR and Satan is the FATHEROF ALLLIARS - (John 8:44)

  41. THE BOOK OF BEGINNINGS GENESIS GENESIS GENESIS GENESIS GENESIS GENESIS Application: 1. DO YOU BELIEVE THAT GENESIS IS A TRUE ACCOUNT OF CREATION? 2. DO WE UNDERSTAND THE IMPORTANCE OF DOCTRINE? 3. DO WE READ THE BOOK OF GENESIS AS MUCH AS WE SHOULD? 4. DO WE UNDERSTAND THAT SATAN IS USING THE THEORY OF EVOLUTION TO LEAD PEOPLE TO HELL?

  42. THE BOOK OF BEGINNINGS GENESIS GENESIS GENESIS GENESIS GENESIS GENESIS THE END
