Induction and raising awareness How to raise awareness: • Mention the rep role within induction lectures • Include information in student handbooks • Give students the link to the rep website www.cardiff.ac.uk/studentvoice • Have presentations from previous reps • Explain the election procedures

  4. Elections • Elections should be run annually for all positions • Candidates should be offered a chance to explain why they want to undertake the role

Elections held andRep names given to Registry Elections are held: • All students should be able to vote for their preferred candidate What Registry do with the names: • Pass on the contacts to the Students’ Union to populate their database • The Students’ Union can contact and invite the reps to training

Students’ Union training Training is for all reps, new and returning How you can help with training: • Advertise training – 8th November 6:30pm-8:30pm Great Hall, Students’ Union • Remind reps to RSVP to AcademicOfficer@cardiff.ac.uk • Remind reps who cannot attend to access the material at www.cardiff.ac.uk/studentvoice

  10. Senior Reps Why have we created Senior Reps • Link from the School to the Students’ Union • Can feedback on topics to Academic Council • Responsible for reporting School-wide themes How to appoint Senior Reps • 1 UG rep and 1 PG rep • Elected from and by the relevant group of reps

  12. Student-Staff Panel Annual Review What is an Annual Review • Review sent to the Academic and University Affairs Officer and Registry detailing the work of the over the academic year • Written by the Chair of the Student-Staff Panel What do SRCs have to do • Endorse the Annual Review

  13. Student-Staff Panels • Consist of a Student Chair and a secretary who can be a member of staff or a student • Take place at least once a semester • Consist of members of staff who undertake different functions within the School • Should be minuted

  15. SRC Discussion Practice in Student-Staff Panels and Schools • What content has been most engaging? • How have you used and enthused student reps? • What mechanisms have you (or reps) used for reporting back to students or to other committees?
