  1. Attending an Orion International Conference

  2. Our recruiters are the ones that send out invitations to our hiring conferences, which are invite only. The companies that attend our conferences are looking for candidates with specific skills based on the positions that are being offered. You have been invited because you fit the qualifications for one or more of the available positions. • In the following weeks, we will work to help you be as prepared as possible for the interview (or interviews) that you may have at the hiring conference. Congratulations! You’ve been invited to an Orion International hiring conference… Now what?

  3. Who will be helping you? • Orion Recruiter(s) (Larry Cummings, Doug Bell or Eric Hinistroza) – work with you to determine what position(s) might be best suited for you based on location, salary, travel, experience, etc. • Brandy Caswell – Recruiter assistant, in charge of all administrative paperwork (resumes, job description packets, etc.) • Account Executive(s) – works directly with the companies in attendance at conference. Is the one in charge of finding the ideal candidate(s) for the positions being offered

  4. What do you need to complete prior to attending conference? A copy of your most recent resume- If you need assistance with putting your resume together, please speak with your recruiter or with Brandy Caswell. We have sample resumes available in the case that you might want to see a common resume format. This will be the copy of your resume that is provided to the companies at conference. Please send a final copy to bcaswell@orioninternational.com no later than August 7th2013. 2013 South Central Conference Questionnaire- This questionnaire provides information to recruiters about your contact information, your basic background information, your location preference, salary preference, and your availability post-conference. This questionnaire must be completed prior to attending conference.

  5. Where is the conference located? Embassy Suites – Energy Corridor 11730 Katy Freeway Houston, TX 77079 (281) 531-7300 Note: If you are interested in staying at the Embassy Suites, you are eligible to receive a discounted rate for your stay during the conference. Please inform Brandy Caswell so that she may place your name on a list for the discounted rate.

  6. What can you expect at the hiring conference? • Day One: 7:30am-8:00pm Registration (time is subject to change). The first day is dedicated entirely to preparing you for your upcoming interviews. The preparation will consist of an interviewing seminar and small group practice interviews for each Orion candidate and one-on-one practice interviews if required. There will also be company briefings/presentations on all of the opportunities represented at the conference. You will have an opportunity to request into interviews with companies that you might not already be interviewing with. You should plan on a full day of activity, ending at approximately 8 p.m. • Day Two: 7:30-5:00 PM Company Interviews. The following day will consist of scheduled interviews. Plan on being available for interviews between the hours of 7:30 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. Some companies may require you to attend presentations, briefings, or testing outside of this window. We encourage you to be as flexible as possible, and to avoid hampering yourself with external commitments during the conference.

  7. Things to remember… We conduct reconfirmations each week to ensure all RSVP’s are utilized by individuals who are committed to attend. You will receive emails and phone calls from Brandy Caswell and/or one of our recruiters, beginning with this one; please respond. You are encouraged to give us a quick email or phone call once a week so we can reconfirm you in our system. Due to logistical factors, our recruiters do not have a list of attending companies to distribute in advance. For questions regarding this matter, please speak with your Orion recruiter. We will be providing copies of your resume to the company hiring representatives. You are not required to bring anything with you to conference, but if you would like to bring any additional documentation (DD214, references, etc.) you are free to do so. If you are traveling to conference, please provide any information regarding departure times or scheduling conflicts to Brandy Caswell so that we may be sure that we are maximizing your conference experience and making the best use of your time. If at some point another employment opportunity arises or if you decide, for whatever reason, that you would like to surrender your spot at the upcoming conference, please inform us. We understand that plans are always subject to change, but we would like to be able to offer your spot to one of your fellow veterans on the waiting list.
