  3. Successful 36 year history of NEDP • 1975: NEDP debuted in Syracuse NY • 1979: NEDP validated by the USDOE for national dissemination • 1997: NEDP introduced in Washington state • 2006: CASAS acquired NEDP • 4000 students a year at 90 sites in 9 states

  4. Unique Characteristics of NEDP • Performance-based • Life and work skills focus • Self-paced, Flexible schedule • Appropriate for ESL and special needs learners • Encourages learner self sufficiency and active engagement • Offers traditional high school diploma

  8. Key Components • Post Task Assessment -opportunity to demonstrate items not previously demonstrated with 100% accuracy • Portfolio Review • Awarding of Diploma

NEDP Staff Roles • NEDP Advisor -Administers and interprets Diagnostics -Provides feedback and advises on self-directed learning plan • NEDP Assessor -Administers and scores Generalized Assessment tasks -Provides client feedback -Conducts Post-Task Assessment • Portfolio Reviewer -conducts independent review of completed portfolio
