Ephesians 3:14-21 (Text: NIV) 14 For this reason I kneel before the Father, 15from whom every family in heaven and on earth derives its name. 16I pray that out of his glorious riches he may strengthen you with power through his Spirit in your inner being, 17so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith. And I pray that you, being rooted and established in love, 18may have power, together with all the Lord’s holy people, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ, 19and to know this love that surpasses knowledge—that you may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God. 20Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us,

  3. 21to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, for ever and ever! Amen.

  4. Three prayer items! • Paul knew that being saved by grace by faith, the Ephesians will need to continue to rely on that grace for living a holy life, the product of grace. • “For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.” Ephesians 2:10, • Paul knowing the need for them to rely on God to enable them to do good works, pray a three items prayer for them.

  5. Paul on his knees! v.14. For this reason I kneel before the Father, v.15. from whom every family in heaven and on earth derives its name.”

  6. Prayer item 1. (3:16)! • “I pray that out of his glorious riches he may strengthen you with power through his Spirit in your inner being.” • He may STRENGTHEN you. (out of His glorious riches.) • With POWER (THROUGH HIS SPIRIT) • In your inner being.

  7. Prayer Item 2. v.17 a! • “So that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith.” 2.17b

  8. Prayer Item 3! v.17b-18 • And I pray that you, beingrooted and established in love. 17.b • ii. You may have power, together with all the Lord’s holy people. • To grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ. • And to know this love that surpassesknowledge • That you may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God.

  9. He will do it! v. 20-21 • “Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us, to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, for ever and ever! Amen.
