Industries estate planning studies completed for 20 sites across the country. • Environmental management plans for urban areas, tourism areas, fragile areas etc. taken up. • State-wise mapping of environmentally sensitive zones completed for 12 States Zoning Atlas – a Tool for Decision-making Networking of Institutions A Spatial Environmental Planning Network (SEP-Net), a network of competent training institutions in India • Achieve sustainable development through comprehensive approach integrating social, economic and environmental considerations by proper planning • Minimize environmental risks from industries and other development projects by properly siting them based on environmental sensitivity assessments • Create environmental information system for environmental planning and management • Develop methods/tools/techniques and strengthen capacities including human resources development THE GOVERNMENT Can develop policies and plan sustainable industrial development INDUSTRIALISTS Can identify the most suitable industrial sire, matching both environmental and economic considerations National Environmental Information System REGULATORY AUTHORITIES Can plan better pollution control and monitoring programmes and speed up the sanctioning of industries District-wise Zoning Atlas Ind.
