  4. The “Pull Factor” K-12 Programs gearing students towards an advanced undergraduate curriculum designed to produce “professionally proficient” graduates who command the language of their domain specialty as well as the culture of the region.

  5. K-12 Flagship Programs based in a School District • K-12 integrated Mandarin Chinese language learning program with the Portland Public School district in collaboration with the Chinese Flagship Center at the University of Oregon's Center for Applied Second Language Studies (CASLS) • K-12 articulated Arabic language program with the Dearborn School District in collaboration with the Arabic Flagship Program at Michigan State University.

  6. K-12 Flagship Program: Statewide Effort in Ohio K-12 Mandarin Chinese language program with Ohio Public Schools in collaboration with the Chinese Flagship Center at Ohio State University

  7. 2007 U.S. Language Summits • Departments of Commerce, Defense and Labor • Articulating the need for languages in business and local & state government
