  1. Learning Domains Their Impact on Teaching and Learning

  2. Objectives or desired learning outcomes fall into three domains of learning. • Cognitive • Psychomotor • Affective

  3. Cognitive behavior deals with acquisition of facts, knowledge, information or concepts.

  4. Sample Cognitive Objectives • List the steps to follow in properly preparing a seedbed for a home lawn. • Develop a list of tools needed to establish a home lawn. • Select the appropriate variety of seed for various home lawn situations.

  5. Psychomotor behaviors are in the realm of manipulative skills-use of mind in combination with motor skills. Hands-on--actual performance of skill

  6. Sample Psychomotor Objectives • Properly prepare a home lawn seedbed. • Demonstrate his/her ability to use the seeding techniques taught in class. • Properly cover the sown seed and select and apply the appropriate mulch.

  7. Affective behaviors have to do with attitudes, values, aesthetics, and appreciation. Very difficult, but necessary, to write objectives for.

  8. Sample Affective Objectives • The student will learn to appreciate the value of a quality lawn. • The student will demonstrate an attitude negative to littering. This one’s tough!
