  11. Sustainability and YOUR OFFICE NYU disposes of 5000+ tons of waste per year, and recycles ~30% of that waste. Get Involved: Reduce: Using a refillable water bottle not only reduces container waste but cuts down on the energy and emissions in the supply pathway of your water. Reuse: Be resourceful: paper and packing materials can be reused. Use durable goods instead of disposables (e.g. a reusable coffee cup , not a paper one). Recycle: Ask questions if you don’t understand the recycling system provided and then inform co-workers as well.

  12. Environmental Purchasing NYU Environmental Purchasing Policy and Guide will be released soon, but in the meantime you can still green your purchasing choices: • Choose green products on Stapleslink and I-buy • Paper: 30% recycled content min., 100% is best • Furniture: see Purchasing Services “green newsletters” for options • Energy Star Appliances, compact fluorescent light bulbs (CFLs), etc. • Work with event caterers for reduced waste, increased local and organic ingredients • Choose durable goods over disposable ones

  13. Progress Report What have we done already? What are we working on? What can we do in the future?
