  1. How to Index a Podcast on iTunes Gail Potratz Podetc #103 March 2009

  2. There are three basics steps you’ll need to take 1. Create the podcast. 2. Go to a hosting site and upload the podcast there for the purpose of getting an RSS feed assigned to it. 3. Go to the iTunes store and submit the podcast so that others can find it there.

  3. 1. Create a Podcast • Create a podcast using Garage Band (Mac iLife software), • audacity, or even the Podomatic site itself. The podcast is in • the mp4 format. Garage Band Video Tutorial Audacity Download Audacity Tutorial Podomatic

  4. 2. Get an RSS feed for the podcast • Go to the Podomatic site to upload the already created podcast. If you • like, you can create the podcast right there as well. My objective for • visiting this site is to get an RSS feed for my podcast. I’ll need that to • get the podcast onto iTunes where others can find and listen to it. • It could also be put onto a website for others to hear. The following slides will show two videos of how you Can accomplish the above.

  5. 3. Submit your rss feed to the iTunes site

  6. Here you can see that iTunes will send you an e-mail notification that your podcast has been successfully submitted. They include a direct link to it so you can immediately view it, although it won’t actually be in the iTunes index for others to listen to for a few days. Congratulations on a job well done!
