The Mobile Library service enables. • Assists people to maintain confidence and positive self-esteem • Acts to alleviate people's loneliness and isolation • Treats each person as an individual by offering a personalised service • Listens and supports people to express their needs and wants • Enables people to maintain the maximum possible level of independence, choice and control

Mobile 2 “Dedicated community library” • Provides a library service to people living in: • Nursing Homes • Adult Training centres • Sheltered Accommodation • Residential Homes • Retirement developments • Visits 40 sites on a 4 weekly timetable • 3731customers annually • 23000 items issued annually • Free library service

  5. On Mobile 2 “Dedicated community library” • Customers can select their own books • Staff will deliver library materials to customers in residential accommodation • Fitted with a platform lift for maximum independence

Home Library Service • Delivered through 5 transit vans staffed by trained Home Library Officers; each van carrying wide selection of approx 800 items of stock • Provides a library service in their own home to those unable to get to a library • Serving over 850 customers • Issuing 70,456items annually • A dedicated Asian Home Library Service van and officer also serving 120 customers

Much much more! … • Computers at Home: a one to one service • Telephone reading group via conference call • Talking book readers’ group meets at the Central Library- guide dogs obviously welcome! • Reminiscence talks to groups • Author visits • Staff will signpost to additional services and information resources

  8. And finally: • Free service with no fines/charges • Customers can have as many items as they require for 4 weeks • No limit on number of requests.
